I am curious why you despise Gary Seven so much? Not a character I have strong feelings about one way or another.

I finished it last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it (and I, for one, like Gary and Roberta.)

It seems to be improving which is uncorrelated to meeting the author at the LV con.

Just posted my review. Enjoyed it for the most part. I would love to see a follow-up sometime!

Also, I did an interview with Dayton Ward for TrekCore.com. It's a couple of weeks old now, but I think some of his answers were pretty cool. The interview was pre-Seekers announcement, so unfortunately he only teases it. If only the interview had been a couple of days later!

I just finished reading From History's Shadow and I have to say that it is the best of the TOS books in 2013.

Agreed! And that is actually saying something, as I really enjoyed some of the others, including The Weight of Worlds and The Shocks of Adversity.

Loved it... rated it "outstanding". But then again I'm a sucker for this type of "historical UFO conspiracy" story. I think Dayton mentioned in the acknowledgements that this was a "pet project"... I'm very glad he got to do it! :techman:

Only one thing missing... I kept waiting for a Juliet Stuart cameo, but alas... ;)

It was interesting to now look over other comments on here and unsurprisngly several people came to the same conclusions.

I am not quite finished but it reads as Trek history versus a TOS novel. The TOS framing sections are not enough to recatagorize it.

Just finished this one myself - definitely an "Outstanding" vote! I have to admit that I'm a bit of a sucker for Gary Seven/Roberta Lincoln stories - I still think it's a shame that TV series never got off the ground.

But, I'd have enjoyed it regardless even if they had not been included. Very well done!

Not certain this requires a spoiler button. Is it the case that the camcorder footage in the last chapter was that of Voyager?

    ^ Yes, from Future's End.

(And yeah, it's a spoiler thread, so I would assume no button required.)

I really liked this. My favorite part was the interrogation of Captain Christopher. That he did have vague memories of his time on the Enterprise.

One part I was slightly disappointed in was the portrayal of Mestral. But that is mostly because I had completely different ideas of what happened to him. I think in the 60s he would have grown out his Vulcan bowl cut to more a mop top to conceal his ears. With his Vulcan mysticism he would have been a guru to the hippies.
