Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Namor had to be older than he was, who was tapped as a mutant in the first year.

(When did they decide that Toro was a mutant?)

Chuck said that he was the first mutant because...

    1. It helped him pick up chicks.

    2. The death Squads wouldn't be looking for all the other mutants if he insisted that his lot were the first five, but that's like presupposing hopelessly that his lot were going to be the new Jews.

    3. Chuck had government ties in the beginning. Strong canonical ones. If he admitted that there were hundreds of thousands of mutants, and thousands more being born every day... Tricky Dick was a hair from the Whitehouse. They would make lists, even with the best of intentions, those lists could wind up in anyone's hands.

    4. Charles could have meant that he was the first Omega Class Mutant? First tier, or most powerful, or even a political rank of "First" like "Prime".

    5. He could have been compartmentalizing his stories to avoid being mind read by his opponents, and even allies, I mean Charlie assumes he's the worlds most powerful telepath, but at that point, according to Stan, it's unlikely that he'd been in any mind wars... Meanwhile according to Chris years later Shadow King completely owned him in thier first encounter when Storm was still prepubescent. Vain, pompous and delusional.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

    Charles didn't know that yet.

There's stuff he should of know because of what was written in the 60s, and then there was stuff he should have known because it was written much, much later and having a direct on history as it had 'always' happened.

Xavier was unaware of Apocalypse till after his marriage with Lilandra fizzled out, unless i missed some backstory origin, but as far as i remember Apocalypse told Mr. Sinister to make him a perfect mutant host that was not going to rot and burn in the 19th century and then went to sleep till the early 1980s.

Xavier would have had direct dealing with Sinister when acquiring Scott from his first orphanage, and Sinister would have allowed that because he wanted Scott to knock boots with Jean, but Sinister is not a Mutant, and he kept his abilities and agenda on the down low from supposedly the worlds most powerful telepath easily.

Sur was most powerful because of what the Celestial vessel did to him, not his mutant power, so really, anyone that walked into that ship could have been all powerful a day later... But Kang showing up to foster/raise a young Apocalypse lays credence to no one significant before Apocalypse.

What are actually Apocalpse's MUTANT powers? And what's Celestial enhancement?

Thor #1: really good stuff. Looks like Thor's adventures are going to be off Earth and large scale.

X-Men Legacy #1: I'm a big fan of the X-Men Legacy featuring Rogue and Magneto, so I was already looking to disappointed by this one. After reading the first issue, I realize that's it's not really for somebody who's recently gotten back into X-books. There's a lot of backstory that I know nothing about.

I think Apoc's actual mutant power is shape/mass shifting, right? And as an External he's immortal. And then he got the tech upgrades from the Celestial ship. So he's a triple threat.

I thought they called bullshit on the externals after the 90s?

It wasn't really qualified, but a couple of them died of the legacy virus and suddenly it's all "WTF?"

Thor was a solid read and will be left on my pull list.
X-men Legacy was just awful and wont be getting a second look.
Fantastic Four has me a little intrigued but starting out with old our powers are going to fail story wasnt the best choice.

The primary reason Cable came back in time was to foster his development.

Isn't it amazing how they keep retroactively revising reasons for Cable "being"?

a lot of that early Cable/X-Force stuff didn't stick in my memory for some reason. i probably read more of X-Man than actual Cable comics.

They would shift if Cable is always from the future of the "prime" timeline.

I read Namor as "first mutant" to mean "first mutant of the current generation" (ie, the 20th century).

En Sabah Nur was the first mutant on Earth.

And of course the Externals, Exodus, et al in between.

Due to the holiday I received some of my comics a day early.

    Including Amazing Spider-Man #698.

    Oh. My. God.

I can't (and won't) say anything more than that. You don't want it spoiled.

I honestly have no idea where Slott is going with this.

Yeah. I stumbled upon spoilers ...I'm not sure what to think about it right now, I want to read the entire issue tomorrow and fully digest it. Spidey fans are going to be talking about this arc for quite some time though afterwards.

Paul Cornell talks about his new "Wolverine" book. Finally a Logan solo book i can be excited about!

Age of Ultron was suppose to run last year wasn't it? I guess that is why Hitch has already finished his work and also why it is being effectively side-lined with most titles have a different numbered issues for the tie-in.

It was first announced two years ago, and I think originally slated to come out last October, then was pushed back to this spring summer, then was going to come out last month before Marvel finally delayed it and announced it for next March.

Bryan Hitch was never known for his speed.

I'm continually amazing that it didn't take two years for him to finish Captain America Reborn.

Age of Ultron was supposed to be associated with Moon Knight?
