Even MTV is doing a zombie comedy.

I love how they made sure to mention it was "scripted" as opposed to reality TV. :p

Cue obvious joke, "how could they tell," wakka wakka.

    Where nobody will mind.

Only other thing of note is that one of the stars is Alex from Lost.

I honestly thought the zombie thing peaked a few years back (especially if you were a comic book fan it seems, they were EVERYWHERE!)

Aren't we still in the middle of the vampire craze? Probably headed back to an aliens craze.

At least zombies are less likely to romance teenage girls.

    Right? RIGHT?!?

As a huge Zombie fan, I've loved the last decade. So many good movies for the genre have come out. With The Walking Dead coming and World War Z in development, I think Zombies still have some time to flourish in the limelight.

But MTV?....I have a bad feeling about this:vulcan:

When I heard they were making a zombie comedy I laughed my ass off.

That's what I did when I heard they were making a comedy about people with leprosy.

    Ba-da-dump, BING!

Actually, I believe Stargate SG-1 did an episode where Ben Browder's character (sorry, I forget his name since I wasn't a frequent viewer) imagines he is fighting off zombies solo.

I think it was an episode where television producers wanted to make a series on the exploits of the Stargate team. (There is a crack by someone, to the effect, that zombies are overdone).

So, zombies have been the 'in' thing for awhile.

Not too mention, 'Shaun of the Dead,'...as well as the inferior remake to 'Dawn of the Dead' came out a few years ago. We also had 'Zombieland' and George Romero's 'Land of Dead'...'Diary of the Dead' (which wasn't as bloody as I thought it would be)....and 'Survival of the Dead.'

Now that I think of it, we had a somewhat released remake (with Mena Suvari and Ving Rhames) of 'Day of the Dead.'

AMC has 'The Walking Dead' coming soon...

There is also some movie that just came out, I forget the name, with hot Milla Jovovich...which has zombies...(Not very good, I hear; it's in 3D; Ali Larter looks hot in it...as well as some British chick...and some other chick playing some character named K-MART).

So, yeah, zombies have been 'in' for awhile...

Just in the last ten years we've had 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, five Resident Evil movies, REC, two House of the Dead movies, 8 or 9 "of the Dead" sequels/remakes/spin-offs, Shaun of the Dead, Fido, I Am Legend, Planet Terror, Zombieland, and lots more that I can't think of off the top of my head. I honestly don't think there's a genre more played out than zombie movies. They make vampire movies look fresh and creative.

Has there ever been a zombie movie about a zombie who regains human consciousness?

^ Sorry, but decaying flesh and the inability to communicate feelings do not appeal to the teenage girl market.

    Robocop?

ETA: If we're talking reanimated flesh:

    Universal Soldier
Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock (although Vulcan consciousness rather than human)

Land of the Dead had zombies regaining some of their lost intelligence (not a lot but some).

Not to mention Zombies everywhere in video games, not just Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 but even in stuff like Call of Duty games.

Word. Zombies are played. It's time to get over them popular culture, I'm not sure what the obsession was with them to begin with.

Tell me, how does the description not apply to Edward Cullen?

I think there's still room for a back-to-basics, voodoo-zombie film or two. Having just seen the old I Walked With a Zombie, I'm curious to see what they do with th remake.
