Ok a win by default isn't much of a win but I'll take it My entry last mouth was just a spur of the moment quickie, which I thought might have gotten at least someone else fired up to do the same, but hey-ho. Now then on to the Challenge. I did have another idea of what to do, but then RB_Kandy said something that made me change my mind. Last month it was about dreams, this month, with Halloween at the end of it, I decided to go down the darker path. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to put your characters through their worst nightmare: the greatest foe they've ever faced; deep, dark personal demons that threaten to consume them; a horrific evil that will destroy them, their ship, and their crewmates. Put them through hell and see if they come out of it on the other side. Muw-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Now for some rules: 1. Word limit is 7500 for this month 2. Only post a story once its completed 3. Original stories only, nothing posted here before 4. No crossovers this month, use either canon or original characters/ships/etc 5. Remember to post the link to your story in this thread 6. Closing date: 1800 (GMT), Wednesday 31st October 7. Voting will commence on the closing date and will run to Friday 2nd November Any question then please ask, either here or by PM. Enjoy...if you dare
Don't feel bad about the default win. Victory is life and all that... As for your theme - oh wow, I'm curious what we'll get to read. Personally, I prefer stories that aren't quite as dark but maybe someone can put a twist to their story.
I hadn't planned on it either, but thought it appropriate for the time of year. Even in the darkest moments, hope can be a beacon of light. Or it'll give people a chance to really torment a character or two
Nightmares, brilliant! My mind has been working hard on this one, I got many ideas. I am going to have a lot of fun with this challenge
I had a great idea that would fit this, only two problems. I already wrote it, and it's not trek (lol). Hmm, maybe I can try to rework it with my Chimera crew, been a while since I've written for them. In any case, great challenge, and I look forward to reading what others come up with.
My characters aren't being very talkative lately, at least not as would be applicable for this month's challenge... phooey.
Well you have eight days still to get them submitted. Good luck to you. If they're not talking, then make them talk
I don't suppose anyone fancies reading a REALLY, REALLY rough draft do they just to give me some pointers? It won't take long, only a few thousand words.
Isn't there enough pain and misery in the world today without picking this as a challenge? Goodness me...
The challenge may be to face off against some level of hell, but its up to the writer how they overcome it: a gallant act by a crewmate, the love of a family member, etc. The theme may be dark, but there is there is always hope. As a certain Bajoran Major once said, "a light only shines in the darkness".
Perhaps a different kind of nightmare. My entry - Imprecision - http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=192040
Well, I never could come up with a satisfactory ending, but I had a great story concept: At the Moons of Madness (with apologies to Mr. Lovecraft)
A very interesting title. Well you still have ten hours and change to figure something out, or you could leave it a little open ended.
Angry Fanboy Hi all, here the link to my entry for this month's challenge. It's called "Majestic", hope you all enjoy! http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=192688
