I like CGI fine - but most of the time my brain turns on the CGI alarm the moment I see it. I guess I've gotten too adept at spotting it.

Those old enough to have built one of the 70s AMT kits can only be jealous of how those engine nacelles are actually, uh, staying attached!

^And who'd have thought that the way to do it was just make the damn tabs longer and slots deeper?

Nice job! I started working on one of these too, but after all the time spent smoothing out the gridlines and trying to install the dang shuttlebay lights in the cramped secondary hull, I kinda needed to get away from the thing for awhile.

It's definitely a big project to make this thing look right.

btw, you should post this in the Fan Art forum too - that's where we usually post model kits. :)

Yes. That was my intention originally but I screwed up and put it in the wrong place. Should I post it again over in Fan Art or should I request it be moved? Seems silly to have it in two places.

BTW.... thanks for the nice comments everyone. This is my favorite build and I've been building models for over 35 years.

Good point, moving it may be best.

The original series visual effects were never this crystal-clear. That image is stupendous.

In some images, she does indeed look like she could have come from a screen shot.

Congratulations on a job well done!:techman:

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'll have some more pics and a video soon. I have a 1/350 Botany Bay in the works and there will be a few space pics of it alongside the Enterprise as my homage to Space Seed.

Polar lights have outdone themselves with this model. It could easily be used for filming and pass for the studio model.

That is a very well done practical model, Trekriffic! Yes, I'd swear it just jumped off the screen, such is the detail! Excellent, excellent work!
