Schematics made with Vance's toolkit

what if the nacelles were angled normally and joined with a standard miranda rollbar, and the 'underbelly' was moved back and up somehow.

i think it might 'flow' better

Forgive me for being thick- but what is Vance's toolkit? I googled it and found nothing

 

It' a collection of starship parts, drawn from various sides and in scale to be used in building schematics of federation starships, created by Vance.

Most schematics in this thread are made using the previous version. Vance himself posted the first two of the newest version (in color) only one or two pages back in this thread. I have a link to a site, where you can find the previous version, on the bottom of my schematics (But only the link on the last two or thre is working, the other ones are out of date, in that regard).

 

I like it! The only thing, i would modify, is the undercut on the secondary hull, i would make it larger and have it flow directly into the underside of the primary hull.

I like it all it needs are a pair or 2 of Mega Phasers

Hi, Nathan - I included your Gadget Hackwrench because I love the sense of humor behind it. Too many times I've gotten serious submissions that have 50 nacelles and hundreds of phaser banks and torpedo tubes. When I see something like yours I have to include it. Kind of like this one too:

indeed after seeing that i had to make mine plus i actually like that one

 

yeah i used those for my last ship cus i acciendtly sent the older tool kit copies to a external HD i live in a cramped space so i really didnt want to risk a trip hazard for my mom just for those ^__^;

plus those have that crummy .jpg compression wonkyness that makes it hard to fill in sections with color

 

What program do you use? There is a way to clean them up, although it is time consuming. I use Paint.Net, but I'd imagine the same procedure would work with any decent graphics program.

Load a sheet.
Edit>Copy
Edit>Paste Into New Layer
Select All on the original (lower) layer and hit [DELETE]
Back to the only layer with artwork on it - Magic Wand
Start by selecting the background and [DELETE] it. Now is where it gets tedious. Work your way through the whole sheet doing Magic Wand/Delete until you have a whole sheet of just outlines.
Now go back and paint the lower layer white.
Depending what's on the specific sheet, you can go back to the artwork layer and selectively Magic Wand/Delete/Paint grey areas like impulse engines, sensor dishes, bussard collectors and so on.
Save in your program's native format so you still have it as layers.
Save>Export to BMP or some other lossless format.

Even if you don't clean up every last bit of the artwork just clearing the background makes them a lot easier to work with.

 

Frunze class battlecruiser

The Frunze class was designed as an upgrade to the Kirov class battlecruiser. Starfleet wanted to enhance the firepower as well as integrate the enhanced capabilities, that the second stern-mounted main sensor/deflector of the Federation class provided.
The nacelle orientation was tweaked on the prototype U.S.S. Frunze. Since no enhancement in the ships performance was detected, the regular nacelle orientation was used on all other ships of this class.

This is a Sacramento Class ship which uses purpose built modules. There would be different modules that it could carry.

This is the same class ship with out the module. Also included is a side view of the hull with out the nacelles and pylons.

 

This is a great design! A precedessor to the Nebula class. :top:


One litte bit regarding the registry on top of the main hull, when written with this font - it needs to be written with spaces between each letter to conform with what is seen in TOS ( "N C C - 1 7 0 1" instead of "NCC-1701").
