The Launcher is 9 megabytes. 14 GB is what the launcher will download once you run it (IE the full game client) if you don't have STO installed.

Just got Sovereign and miss my defiant already, really think I made a mistake leaving the escort class...it feels just so weak in both attack n defence + mega slow :(

Of course, it feels weak in attack and turn speed but if you have trouble staying alive in a Sovereign you are doing it wrong.
Which is normal if you only piloted escorts before.

You are probably still specced for escorts for starters?

STO is installed but it's reporting 14GB on the patch. Doesn't matter though as it failed after downloading for 24 hours. Nobody has time for this. What in the hell has Cryptic/PWE done with the launcher?

My return on investment for STO is falling down the garbage chute...

Personally I'd say the only ships you should fly in STO are escorts. I used to fly cruisers and even managed to get good damage out of them, but after PvPing for I realised that no matter how good the build is, a cruiser will always be a distant second to an escort.

Sadly when you build a cruiser in such a way that it gets close to escort damage, it becomes quite squishy in comparison to one.

I've now dropped the cruiser on all my alts and now solely fly escorts (the tankier ones like the patrol escort, heavy escort carrier, the Breen ship and the temporal destroyer).

    Except escorts are faceroll boring-easy.

But I'll submit that it is unfortunate Cryptic instituted the trinity and then failed to provide an application of it. It's the biggest shortcoming of the game IMO.

On a bright note, I just got the Vestas. :D

I've got buyer's remorse over my newest ship. Is there a way to return a ship for even a partial refund? Or at least, try to sell it?

    Afraid not.
Ships are not sellable, unless they are still in a lockbox.

What ship and what is the problem?

Don't laugh. It's an Excelsior. It's just weaker than my earlier ship. I really bought it for asthetics rather than playability, since I always liked the Excelsior. Oh, well, I may just go back to my previous ship and chalk it up to experience. Better to waste fake money on this than real money on something important.

What do you mean by weaker?

    Damage output?

The excelsior is the best DPS cruiser outside of lockbox ships, and if you build it right, you can melt other ships almost as fast as an escort.
You may want to look into single cannon builds for this.

For example 4 single Antiproton cannons in the front, 4 antiproton turrets in the rear for a pure energy build.
If you don't use orpedos, you will have anough tactical powers for tactical team, 2x rapid fire or one rapid fire and attack pattern omega.

Use DEM 3 for high shield penetration.
The rest of the engineering powers should go to survivability as well as science powers.

YOu can optimize that build with a dedicated respec.

Same here, I love mine! High survivability, great dps, and with scorpion fighters. I'm nearly unstoppable!

I haven't decided on how I'm going to build mine yet. I did some research last night and decided I'd sleep on it. Still have no idea.

One thing is I need to respec first, but I can't even decide if I want to specialize or just go with a more generic build so I can utilize other ships.

Oh and what's the best way to obtain the other hanger ships?

Unfortunately, I only have about 4 mill EC.

    4 Million is not much.
In that case you may be best served to copy your character to the Tribble server buy the best gear possible for what you are trying to do, and if that doesn't work out, scrap it, recopy the toon and start over.
respec should be the last thing you do before committing to a build.
I flew weeks with my torpedo armitage before I was comfortable enough with it to put all my weight into torpedos and related skills.

Is the MK X borg engine as fast in sector space as the mk xi or xii? Or at least as fast as the old one? I could see myself actually getting the marks and spending the dil for that, if the above are true.

I'm in the middle of a respec on all my Toons at the moment as I don't think any of them are optimised for the ships they've got.

I'm also in the process of converting all my crews to the best level I can get them to.

So how about that Dominion lock-box? Both the lobi and grand prize ships are carriers, which is unfortunate I suppose, but everything else is looking good.

I think I'm going to be buying a lot of keys with my zen...

...and then selling them on the exchange when this comes out. Talk about profit! I'd bet this is going to be the most popular lock-box yet.

One's going to be a tactical carrier, which probably means 7-8 weapon slots and a Cmdr Tactical boff station. Add 2 hanger slots, consoles to buff group and fighter damage... Its going to be the highest dps ships in the game. That is, if you can turn the ship.

My engineer's eyeing the Adak'Ukan doff. +300% Threat Generation with AP Delta is going to be so uber.
