Is coming out on Nov 3 and this link has the details on the bonus features. Not as expensive as I thought it would be and is out about a month earlier than I expected too. I'm getting this...held off on buying the DVD when it came out a couple months ago.

Nice to know they are releasing the film in both formats at a reasonable price point. I think there is a $10 off coupon you can sign up for out there still.

I think if you sign up here they will send it to you close to release day.

I still haven't seen this movie, though I planned to. What are they... up to three cuts now? Anyone have any suggestions on what I should watch? I don't know or care about the original comic if that helps...

I thought the Director's Cut was slow and ponderous as hell. I can't imagine what a longer version would be like.

I don't want to see the cartoon cut into the movie.

The directors cut was good enough for me.

The director's cut was good for me. I just wanted an audio commentary with the director's cut and kind of knew I would have to wait for the ultimate cut to come out to get it. I'm interested to see how the cartoon is cut into the movie. Should make for an interesting visual.

I'd be happy if this included all three cuts of the film.

Holy sweet fuck, a third edition of the movie? And this is after two different version were already released on DVD? I mean, I liked this movie and all, but this is just ridiculous. We have the regular cut, the extended Director's Cut, and now the even longer(!) Ultimate Cut. All in the same fucking year! This is why I hate DVD marketing.

I'm surprised people are surprised by this news...the Ultimate Cut was announced earlier in the summer time...just no one knew what the extras would contain.

I'm not getting the Ultimate Cut.

It's five discs. Except that it's not.

It's the director's cut and Black Freighter integrated. That's disc one.

    Documentaries. That's disc two.

A digital copy. That's disc three.

The Motion Comics. Four and five.

The only parts I want are the documentaries and the commentary by Dave Gibbons. The rest? A digital copy shouldn't fucking count as a disc. And if I wanted the damn motion comics, I'd have bought the damn motion comics.

Otherwise, pass. I'll be content with the Director's Cut and Black Freighter separate, since I already have them.

Well, I don't really pay attention to DVD releases beyond a month ahead, unless it's for TV shows. So this is the first I've heard of this. Still, I guess given how notoriously similar to other DVD marketing this is, it shouldn't surprise me. But it still frustrates me.

Oh fuck, just imagine the DVD hooplah when Trek XI gets released.

I won't be getting it since I already got the director's cut. Putting the cartoon into the movie is just excessive.

Sadly, this is as probably close as we are going to get to a sequel. :(

Yeah, but that's actually a prequel.

The "Tales of the Black Freighter" stuff bored me when I read the comics. Is the new Ultimate Cut adding anything else to the edit besides that? I might be interested in getting the Director's Cut for the Hollis Mason stuff.

I agree, splicing in TOTBF is unnecessary. I was pleased that they left it out of the theatrical and extended versions. It would do to the movie's pacing what those extra large portion of ribs did to Fred Flintstone's car.

Yeah, it was obvious that this version was going to be released even before it was announced (which was months ago, to all those whinging). I wasn't a huge fan of the film at but I'll be interested to see what else from the comic they managed to miss the point of.
