Thanks for this! Incidentally, Sheet 018 is no longer complete. Another Enterprise is planned, CVN-80: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_(CVN-80) Of course, there's no guarantee it will happen as intended. I've often wondered what the V stands for in carrier designations. The short answer: the Navy doesn't know. http://www.navweaps.com/index_tech/index_ships_list.htm
i have recently completed a set of drawing (actually just one huge file) of the original enterprise with internal deck plan. while they still in work i would like to post them some where. i would like to give them to the lcars database if they would like them. i just want to be able to update them when i have more. i am adding the furnishings and other equipment. i have researched this for a long time and have a lot of material to go along with the file that i would like to post also.
Gary Kerr is pissed that his plans are posted without permission. He's ripping Cygnus a new one over on facebook.
That's a little odd - I had a look at the "Big Jim" plans last week and they don't seem that accurate to the model (the engineering docking port is too high). They're lovely to look at, but that one point niggled me.
Wow... It's pretty sad when folk can't take the time to do their own work, instead pirating that of others....
Don't know why they're called that, but Gary saw them and realized that they're the plans he drew, stolen and renamed. He has overlayed the Slade plans with his own originals and has no doubt they're one and the same.
Note: The above posts constitute my entire involvement in this controversy - simply relaying Gary's concerns to the owners of Cygnus/LCARS, because it made sense for them to know. I have no dog in this fight. My involvement is done. Please leave me out of future Facebook rants and threats.
Not if it is done in the fashion of the original post. If the issue exists on another board, between members of the other board, it has no place being dragged out here, as well.
So just my two cents here since I'm the person who runs Cygnus-X1.Net where Big Jim Slade's prints are currently being shown... I've talked to both Jim and Gary separately on this issue, along with several others from both of their camps. There are clearly two sides of the story here and, frankly, it's not up to me to decide who is right and who is wrong. This is not a clear-cut issues. Gary presented me with details that show how Jim's plans must have been copied from his, yet other analysis show that not to be the case. So I may or may not remove the plans from my site. I have more information from several people to review. Thanks- -John
