Which do you think looks better? The Klingon Bird-of-Prey with its wings up or down? Personally, I prefer up.

Why can't I vote for "flapping furiously"?

    But yeah, "level".

I voted for "up" under the assumption the OP meant up as in level, not up as in landing mode. Though as a matter of truth, I prefer the wings being able to move; Up for landing, level for cruising, and down for attack.

The 3-mode "wing" was just silly for a spacecraft.

Any sillier than X-Wing Fighters "locking S-foils in attack position?"

    And Voyager's two mode?

The up position for the wings makes sense to me because that's where I think the BOP's equivalent of warp coils are. You would raise the wings for take off/landing to get the wing as far as possible from flying ground debris.

    :)

I always that the blades/baffles, doubled as hinges/warp coil plates--but the Haynes manuals have them as wings.

I love this hybrid here myself

Install a hyperdrive and lose the top nacelle--and you have a ship with great lines.

Just as silly, but Star Wars never claimed to be anything but a fairy tale.

IIRC the Haynes manual had the warp engines in the wings- I never really considered that possibility until then.

I like them in down position- it just gives the whole ship a line-backer'hulk rage sort of vibe. I think they were nice as variable, it changed the look of the ship and it's intentions. I think it was shown in TNG and DS-9 with them down all the time because the mechanism that moved them stopped working and could not be repaired without tearing the whole thing apart. Considering they just built it for one movie they got a lot of mileage out of that model.

I thought one of the Okudagrams from "Blood Oath" (perhaps reused in "Return to Grace" or "Apocalypse Rising" or the like) showed a single conventional set of coils at stern centerline... Can't locate that at the moment, though.

Edit: Here's the onscreen graphic, with two glowing things coinciding with the baffles:

No idea whether that Okudagram'ish thing with the centerline coils was a fan graphic or what, but it's not there in "Blood Oath" and clearly not there in "Return to Grace" above.

I don't like the Klingon BOP at all, as I much prefer the attack cruisers seen in TMP.

I always liked the moveability of the wings. But, I think the ship looks meaner with the wings down.

^^ Someone's showing thier age. I remember that from grade school. I would vote for wings level. With wings way up for landing. Which we only really saw in STIV.
