This thread is about your favorite teams and personalities in sports. My Favorite Sports Teams Baseball : Chicago Cubs Basketball : Detroit Pistons Soccer : Arsenal F.C. My Favorite Sports Personalities Baseball : Sammy Sosa, Derek Jeter Basketball : Deninis Rodman, Clyde Drexler, Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas Soccer : Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp
I only follow baseball. My favorite teams are the Yankees and the Mets. My favorite player of all time, however, never played for either of those teams (he played for the Padres and Giants): Dave Dravecky. If I had to pick my favorite Yankees and Mets, though? Yankees - Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte Mets - Matt Harvey, David Wright, Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter
Favorite Teams Baseball: San Francisco Giants (And I follow the A's) Football: San Francisco 49ers Hockey: San Jose Sharks Basketball: Golden State Warriors Favorite Players Baseball: Mariano Rivera, Buster Posey Basketball: Steph Curry, Kevin Durant Hockey: Sidney Crosby, Joe Thornton Football: Jim Harbaugh (Not a player, but a personality), Payton Manning
I'm mainly a baseball guy, and am a fan of the Rockies and the Twins (mainly because I hate myself). My favorite players are George Brett, Cal Ripken Jr., Kirby Puckett, Tony Gwynn. I watch the Denver Broncos, and some Colorado Avalanche, but admitedly I don't know all that much about football and hockey compared to baseball.
I'm a huge baseball fan, followed by hockey, then football, then soccer, and never basketball. Baseball - Oakland A's (I've been a fan since birth) Hockey - Boston Bruins (a Bruins fan made me a hockey fan a bunch of years ago) Football - Detroit Lions (since Suh was drafted. It's a hard-knock life) Soccer - Manchester City, Seattle Sounders (logo-based choices a few seasons back) My favorite personalities are not players, but radio people. Mike Golic, Mike Greenberg, and Stephen A. Smith.
The only American sport I followed (and it was years ago) was NBA, around the time of Michael Jordan's peak. I mostly followed the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks, but I did have a fondness for Boston Celtics too. I used to hear a bit about college football too, as a friend of mine worked at the University of Notre Dame and he was always telling me how the Fighting Irish were doing. He even gave me a jersey as a gift. It was several sizes too large. As for other sports, I mostly follow soccer, and I'm a supporter of Juventus FC. I don't have "favourite personalities", but I respect players like Alessandro Del Piero and Fabio Cannavaro who can make a long, successful careers without getting involved in scandals and other silly shenanigans. I watch the odd motorsport race, too, and I usually root for Ferrari (F1) and Ducati (MotoGP and Superbike): my father used to work for the former and now works for the latter, so it's all in the family. I make an exception for Yamaha, tho, as I love Valentino Rossi. I rarely follow other sports (at the national level at least, I love rugby but I usually follow only the international stuff like Six Nations and World Cup), but when it happens I usually root for my local team (for example Virtus Bologna-- basketball, or Reno Bologna-- rugby).
Long time Baseball and Football fan. Baseball: Atlanta Braves (David Justice, Freddie Freeman, Greg Maddux) Football: Dallas Cowboys (Tony Romo is my favorite player of all time. Yes, even over the big three from the 90's. Fight me.) College Football: Virginia Tech (Don't really have a favorite player)
Baseball: Minnesota Twins (favorite player was Torii Hunter). Football: Green Bay Packers (favorite player was Reggie White). Hockey: Minnesota Wild (favorite player was Antti Laaksonen, but if I go back to the North Stars days, Dino Ciccarelli).
While I'm a Giants fan, It's nice to see another A's fan on here. Do you want to see the team go to San Jose or try to stay in Oakland. I just wish the A's got a new Owner and try to make the Oakland thing work. I'm not really fond of Joe Lacob becoming new owner (Since he has work with the Warriors) but his idea of a stadium near the shipyard is a really good one.
Knicks-Bulls playoff games of the early 90's were awesome. And I say that as a guy who grew up on the wrong side of that argument.
Football: St. Louis Rams Baseball: Los Angeles Angels Basketball: Los Angeles Lakers My favorite sports stars are Shaquille O'Neal, Marshall Faulk, Jackie Slater, Reggie Jackson, Magic Johnson... others I'm sure I'm not thinking of right now.
Sport: NFL Football. Team: The New York Jets. (Yes, I know...) Other teams: NY Yankees (Baseball) NY Islanders (Hockey)
Boston born and raised so... Red Sox and Patriots. I somewhat follow the Bruins and the Celtics, but not the extent of the NFL and MLB. Favorite players and personalities: Bill Mueller, Pedro Martinez, Dustin Pedroia, Terry Francona, Tim Lincecum, and of course the evil twins of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
Primarily a football fan, with some love for basketball and hockey; baseball's fun live. Favorite teams: NFL - Tennessee Titans (and the Eagles) NBA - Memphis Grizzlies NHL - Nashville Predators MLB - Philadelphia Phillies College - Tennessee Volunteers (not the SEC) & Penn State I don't really have a lot of favorite players/personalities off the top of my head, but Peyton Manning, Jeff Fisher, and Pat Summit would probably be tops. I'm so glad Peyton's out of Indy.
My British nephews are huge fans of Liverpool FC. If I have time to go over there I'll have to go to Anfield with 'em. Sounds like fun.
