I just love that each Nolan batman movie kept going longer and longer.

    Batman Begins - 140 minutes

    The Dark Knight -153 minutes

The Dark Knight Rises - 164 minutes

Better not drink too much water before going to the theater.

think of it as getting more value for your money. More movie, but the ticket price is the same.

I feel like the "hockey pads" Batman imitators in TDK were partly inspired by the comic's "Sons of the Batman".

Batman, Inc. had some serious cutbacks.

I tend to agree. Even the first time I saw it, I did think that there were times where it could have been edited. Exciting as the Hong Kong scenes were, I'm not sure that they were essential, for example.

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) will be making another appearance in the film series, to general relief.;)

His cameo in TDK was pretty awesome, actually.

    It's too long! UGGGGHHH......

People are already fidgety for the most part. This will only increase the fidgety quotient.

    Me want shorter movie.

You'd think the Joker would have killed that guy after Batman jumped out the window.

Just rewatched Batman Begins today, and plan on watching The Dark Knight tomorrow as prep for this.

Shut up and take it. If you want to complain about something being too long, let's talk about this line.

It's the last of Nolan's batman. I would be really disappointed if his third movie was just 1 hour and 47 minutes

If the movie is extremely entertaining the 2 hours and 45 minutes will past by in a blink

    That's what she said :p

July 20 can't get here soon enough. I get cold chills now whenever I hear the two-note Batman theme on various commercials on TV.

Seriously. I'm so excited now, that if I could watch the movie today, I would happily wait another year (on top of the year we already have to wait) to watch the Star Trek sequel. If I could watch this movie today, I would vow to wait a year after its release to watch The Hobbit, The Man of Steel, the RoboCop reboot and would wait a year to play Assassin's Creed III. And I really want to play Assassin's Creed III. That's how bad I want to watch this damn movie.

Two more weeks and one day! UUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

Lots of production notes have (officially) been released. They do of course contain spoilers, but mostly about the eight year gap:

And (apart from the film itself) I can't wait to see a good making of about it - if I read that correctly the plane stunt in the prologue was mostly real.

I'm still waiting for a good "making of" for TDK. There was hardly anything at all on the blu-ray, strangely enough.

John Blake movie master figure has been spotted on eBay

He comes with the fifth piece of the bat signal but no gun

Batman- comes with the square piece of the bat signal

Bane- the support for the main piece of the signal

    Cat woman- the base

John Blake- front nonsmashed version of the bat signal piece

Mystery figure- back end of signal

Gordon- smashed signal piece. Basically a variant that doesn't count

    Two note Batman theme?

Was that a typo or a misread?

I'm not going to read spoilers about that 8-year gap, but I've been thinking about it. I've been wondering if the gap is in the movie itself.

No spoilers ahead, just my speculation...

Maybe Batman is crippled by Bane, then "rises" again 8 years later. Just trying to piece together the events we saw in the trailers. Batman appears to be seriously injured by Bane, but then he appears to be well enough later on to team up with Catwoman. If this is what happens, it doesn't seem like something that can take place over a short period of time.

Also no spoiler just speculation, but I'll tag it as you did...

I was under the impression he retired immediately after the events of the previous film because he was troubled by the vigilantes with the hockey pads and shotguns, and others like them. After Harvey Dent went all serial killer, he feared everyone would want to be like Batman and nobody would want to be naïve fool who trusted the system. In the process of creating a symbol to terrify the bad guys, he inadvertently created a terrible role model to "inspire" the masses. So he preserved Dent as the positive role model and turned Batman into a villain and retired him in order to destroy the dangerous role model.

^ That's the popular theory. Guess we'll know for sure in two weeks.
