I have an older version of the script. SugarSync is being....difficult. I am trying to access it at work, so that might be the problem. Probably user error.

Well, it is rather difficult if it doesn't recognize the computer you're accessing it from. :) However, I will email you that script shortly to your work address. Let me know if you don't receive it by 2pm or so.

    Hey, Doug,

It'll be this evening before I send it to your non-work email.

    From SugarSync:
We're performing routine maintenance. This maintenance will last from 21:00 PT to 01:00 PT (05:00 GMT to 09:00 GMT). During this time, all your data is 100% secure. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Apparently you're not alone. I couldn't access it either.

Well, no, it's terrible! I can't look at the really awesome special effects that Jon Carling's been working on lately until it's up and running again!

Seriously, it's back, and if you have access to "The Void" folder, you'll see SB 82, Jon's latest VFX shot, is just amazing to behold.

Just saw SB82.avi. Ends a bit too abruptly for my taste, but people will definitely like that shot.

It may be a bit sudden, but I think it fits the storyboard perfectly. I agree that folks are definitely going to like it.

A few notes for this evening:

Doug Harper will be directing "Archway" on the April 16th shoot of that vignette. "Archway" is an sf-oriented short featuring Doug Harper as Commander Mike Delaney, Richard Thorton as Lieutenant Darrell Frazier, and Hannah Ruiz as Lieutenant Doreen Spampinato. This film, written by Randall Landers, is a tribute to Robert Bloch's involvement with Star Trek.

We've also posted the closing VFX shot from "Doctor's Orders" to our Youtube channel. You'll be able to find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N_r9wniIB8.

Lastly, we're looking for cast members to appear as guest stars in our upcoming episode, "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky." Filming will take place over three weekends and perhaps a few weekdays in May. Cast members will not need to be available for the entire shooting schedule as we're shooting on nine different locations and not all cast members will be required at every location. Please contact us producer@projectpotemkin.com if interested.

The special effects shots for "The Void" are rapidly approaching completion. Just watched Jon Carling's SB104-106, and am really getting stoked. I wish we could share these with everyone, but I don't want to spoil the episode. We should have a cut of the episode for us to preview in about a week, and we're all excited.

I'm looking forward to it. This episode really sets the tone for the series -- people are gonna dig it.

I think so, too. This afternoon, the girls and I sat down at the computer to see if we could follow Bill's guidelines on animating panels. Megan and Sam had it done in 3 mins.

We scouted locations this afternoon for both "Archway" which shoots on April 16th and for "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky" which shoots in May.

"Archway" will be shot at the now-razed Radium Springs Casino. "Night" will be shot in the surrounding park. Spoke again with the Parks and Recreation official, and it's not a problem. Our only concern is that there may need to be some ADR work.

Re: New Star Trek Fan Film

While we're presently working on the production of "Archway" (filming to take place April 16th), we're putting the pre-production process for "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky" into high-gear for our May shoot.

On our website, we've listed our casting, props, costuming, etc. needs. If you'd like to be involved with the production, please review the NEWS and let us know if you'd like to help and how you'd like to help.

Meanwhile, post-production continues on "The Void," "Doctor's Orders," "Delivery," "Miscommunication" and "The Engineer's New Clothes." We're hoping that "The Void" will be available in either late May or mid June, with the other productions becoming available one per month throughout the remainder of the year.

Lastly, let me reiterate that we would love additional cast members to develop. Filming takes places on the weekends here in Southwest Georgia. We've two productions remaining in our first "season" and are at work on some of the second "season" productions. One of those second season productions is a vignette entitled "The Lucky One" which will be shot in Birmingham, Alabama. If you would like to help out, please contact Randy at your earliest convenience!

Scouting locations at Providence Canyon near Lumpkin, Georgia today. Planning on building an archway this weekend.

The pictures we took at Providence Canyon can be found here:
    http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k485/Project_Potemkin/Providence%20Canyon%20--%20Potemkin%20Location/

It's about an hour and a half from Albany, and the drive was pleasant enough. Quite a unique feature, geologically speaking, and was accidentally created by poor farming techniques in the 1800's. The quarter mile trek is pretty darn steep, and drops you 150 ft or so to the canyon floor. Filming would be a problem because of the steepness, even with today's lighter cameras. We're definitely rethinking our original plan for our heroes to be exploring this canyon for the site of a wrecked spacecraft.

There's a lot of good views in the album for you to enjoy.

Wonderful location -- agree that it would look good on camera, but understand that you wouldn't want your cast and crew hurt getting in and out of there.

Re: New Star Trek Fan Film

You know, we were looking at a shot at the landing party making their way through the canyon floor from the canyon ledge, and with all the pine trees (and increased spacing from the ledge to the restraining fences) we couldn't see the floor from the edge and couldn't see the viewing edges from the canyon floor. Very frustrating.

Plus, we were looking for our "cave" and really couldn't find but a few locations than would've been believable for a CGI cave to be inserted. I still have hope that one day we can shoot there, but it would have to be a 3-4 page vignette, not a 44 page episode.

Re: New Star Trek Fan Film

On Saturday, April 16th, from Noon to 4:30pm, Project: Potemkin will be shooting the vignette, "Archway," written by Randall Landers, and starring Doug Harper as Commander Mike Delaney, Hannah Ruiz as Lieutenant Doreen Spampinato, and Richard Thornton as Lieutenant Darrell Frazier. The story is set on a seemingly abandoned class M planet, and it's up to the landing party from the Potemkin to determine where its people have gone. Filming will take place at the Radium Springs Casino/Park in Dougherty County. This episode will be directed by Doug Harper.

Please note: the weather is expected to be rough Friday night and early Saturday morning, but should be cleared by noontime.

If you're in the area and would like to attend the filming, please contact us directly. We hope to have some pictures posted on the Potemkin website by Sunday.
