I hope they do bring her back and say that the book they offed her in was some terrible food poisoning fever dream by Tuvok since that book was terrible.

It was truly a terrible, terrible book.

Cover was pretty though, that was why I bought the damn thing! Because I never read TNG novels and I'd given up on Peter David years ago. But there was the beautiful 7.

    TERRIBLE.

I'm thinking I might frame this book. Not rip it mind you, just put it in one of those deep frames. A pristine copy, not this one which will stop being pristine presently.

Doing that, see if you can get a copy signed by Kirsten. Ask here, or email the publisher about how you could get a signed copy.

That's an interesting idea, framing it. I was thinking of wrapping one in plastic wrap, so it's pristine forever, lol (well, ha, this book made me happy), but framing it might be interesting, too, hmm, have to think on that, well meanwhile, happy reading!

I will get Kirsten to sign it.

To teacake, YOU were right so here is your book at last. Love, Kirsten

But if it is framed she will have to sign the cover which will ruin it.. okay I will have a pristine one with the cover signed and framed and a pristine one unsigned and framed. It's not like I only have one wall in my house.

    SO OMG QUESTION.

I have cracked the book during a boring bit in Dr. Who. And the first thing I see is the poem at the start.

What am I now that I was then?
May memory restore again and again
The smallest color of the smallest day:
Time is the school in which we learn
Time is the fire in which we burn

    --Delmore Schwartz

Is this a reference to KIRK'S DEATH?! Could it be a piece of foreshadowing that Kirk is coming back just as Janeway has now returned? Coming back in prime Treklit, not Shatnerverse obviously.

I'm just laying this out here. I think the sales figures of modern Treklit would go through the roof if they brought Kirk back and just.. PUT HIM into every story. Kirk on the Titan. Kirk on Voyager. Kirk rebuilding Cardassia. This is a very good idea. And even if it's not it seems that we are being teased with this possibility by the inclusion of this poem.

I strongly suspect that if they were going to bring back Kirk, they'd explain away or gloss over the (minor, until the last two books) differences in Shatnerverse/Treklit Prime continuities, rather than re-ressurrect him.

I just realized, Admiral Janeway being alive and well in 2381 was the biggest discontinuity between Treklit and the Shatnerverse.... and, oh look, suddenly no longer an issue...

I took it as a reference to Picard's fear of death...

But Picard didn't die. Kirk did, in a movie with this quote. And then Janeway returned in a book with this quote. It's a dovetail, a teaser.. and you know what, I think it is there just to test the waters. To see if the readers actually care.

You know what we need to do?

We need to start a CAMPAIGN.

    Bring Back James Kirk

    BBJK

IT"S THE SAME LETTERS, BUT WITH THE INITIALS REVERSED! Lets do it!!!

    To Facebook!

    You don't want him back??

Well it might be too late for your opinion to be counted. The foreshadowing, it's on the wall.
