I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me buy one. It's expensive, but money isn't the issue. We have the funds, but she lacks the will. :)

Well, it's one of those pieces that once you get it, you kinda have to redesign the room around it.

Next'll be the biggest widescreen tv you can get, then one of those helm reproductions on eBay, and a set of Burke chairs with the custom cushion pieces, pretty soon, you've turned your den into the bridge.

Not many wives are up to that kind of challenge.

Let's be clear on this item. It costs THOUSANDS of dollars. The good news is that the owner of my local comic book store said that if I order five, he'll give me a discount!:vulcan::klingon:

Can it be hooked up to run all the multimedia features of your widescreen "bridge?" :D Can you take phone calls over the intercom? Library computer access? Flashcard reader? I'd expect a Captain's Chair to be seriously Functional!

I often wondered why Captain Kirk had to ask for screen magnification and the opening of communication channels and the like when he could probably just do it himself, what with all those buttons on his chair.

400 dollars for shipping and 42 DAYS for Delivery?? Yeesh.

They're not walking it to you. 42 days is probably the typical turn-around time for them to process the order, get one from the manufacturer and get it on the truck to you. Actual transit time is probably 2 to 4 days.

Can't they just use their freight transporter to get it to you?

*Man, sometimes ya gotta think outside the box.

I see the price tag on that and I think to myself "No wonder the world's economy is about to flatline."

I'd love to have one, but the price is well... beyond my means. At least, I've had the chance to sit in it.

This chair is the coolest thing I've ever seen - fan-wise. I drool over it every time I think about it. Yeah, I'm pathetic... :)

The chair's KINDA cool, but obsessing over it is too close to obsessing about Shatner's ass, IMO. :D

Seems like those with decent carpentry skills could build one if they had the proper plans.

My Shatner 2000 is stuck in the subspace mail. And Mr. Sulu keeps dropping that damn thing...
