Hi, I'm a psychologist and I'm designing a study on fandoms and especially the Trek fandom. I'll use an online survey and will need to advertise it online. I'm especially interested in finding people who have been to conventions and have gone in costume. So, here's where I need some help: where, besides here trekbbs, online would be a good place to find Trekkies/Trekkers that go to cons? Thanks! - Bill
www.Stardestroyer.net, while mostly a Star Wars site, does have a Star Trek forum. www.ex-astris-scientia.org, it's kind of a sprawling site, you might find a convention link/forum there. Good luck.
Okay, the research study is on ... Participants needed for study: Psychology of Star Trek Fandom http://imgur.com/uwpaQI2 www.surveymonkey.com/s/Star-Trek It takes about 15 minutes and would really help me out. Thanks. -- Bill
Try the SF Ball forum. http://forum.sfbevents.com/index.php?sid=3b616ef76e1736354992c7f92ed46732 Oh, if I had a quid for every person who ever wanted to study Trek fans over the years...
Wow, got rejected after the second question, have you lived in the US for at least twenty years? I was born a US citizen, but because of my parent's military careers, didn't live in the US for half my life. On the question of "What is your gender?" There is only male or female, no option for transgenders like myself. Later on the question of "What is your ethnic background?" there is the option of "other" with a fill in the blank. Excluded again. At one point he asks if you are a fan of the movie, The Big Lebowski. (Bowling, right?)
I got the boot because I never attended a con. Okay now I'll go take the survey and see if I can bullshit my way all the way to the end by guessing what survey monkey wants me to say! Spoiler! The answer to the last question is: Spoiler: the only correct answer IDIC! Everyone got that one, right?
