I'm giving Logan a victory in his own election, but it could just be a Keeler/Logan/Gardner Presidency from 2006-2010 or 2005-2009, which would push things up by four years to 2013/14 in Day 7, unless Gardner ran again and won a second term, or some other lame-ass Pres was a one-termer, because Gardner was busy, being Satan and all.

^I'm not doubting your numbers, I'm just saying that Dell, Cisco and a few other companies are paying a lot for product placement in this show to advertise their latest products when, in fact, those products are considerably out of date in the show's timeframe.

Oh no, I know you weren't. I just wanted to add an addendum because I assumed a second term for Logan when that might not be accurate.

The computers are out of date, but they do have those nifty futuristic graphical interfaces and amazing processing speed/power. Plus, no satellite is ever out of range or difficult to re-task for even the most mundane assignment, unless the plot calls for it. ;)

They have improved the Human-Computer Interfaces quite significantly. That's why Chloe is so good at what she does. 2017 computer interfaces allow a user to control the PC via facial scowling.

This is the time line I've mostly, roughly, followed. (I may be off some, it's early and I'm tired.)

S1: Mar 2004 - California Primaries, an election year.
    S2: Oct 2005 - During Palmer's first term.
S3: Oct 2008 - During the debates, an election year.
    S4: June 2010 - During Keeler's presidency.
    S5: Dec 2011 - During Logan's presidency.
S6: March 2013 - Said to be early in W. Palmer's first term.
    Red: January 20, 2017 - Taylor's inaguration day.
    S7: March 2017 - Set months after Taylor's inaguration.

Setting S1 in 2001 is, well, silly since it's an election year as established by the day's events. We'll just have to accept that 24's time has always been "off" with ours and the producers are on record saying 24 is an "perpetual now" meaning that "really" as the show goes on instead of it moving forward the events of the previous seasons just get pushed further into the past. So if it's "really" 2009 in 24's verse then Season 1 took place in 1996. ;)

Sorry, that was my mistake, not the article I quoted. I meant to say "in the next election year after the show premiered in 2001." I fixed it in the post.

Then it's the most accurate aspect of 24.
