Nic Cage is an unabashed Marvel fan. Hell his real last name isn't even Cage its Copolla. He took the last name Cage because he liked the character Luke Cage

Back when they were thinking of doing a Batman Beyond movie, Nic Cage was considered for the role of Blight. Some folks even used color altered footage of him as Ghost Rider for Blight.

I'm all for Hugo Weaving. The man is a great actor and they are casting actors not the latest up and comer. Weaving knows how to bring a charcter through the make up. Skull will have a heavy dose of that. Weaving made V in V for Vendetta as realized and engaging a character as any I've seen the last 10yrs and we didn't see his face once. Him as Red Skull sounds like a good choice if it happens.

Well the "John Krasinski has been offered the role" story didn't come true, so one can only hope. He looks the part even if he can't act worth a damn, and looking the part is what a lot of people here only seem to care about. Of course, I can't see Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton taking orders from him.

It really depends on the tone of the movie how much a bad actor will be noticed. As I recall, Tatum didn't suck all that badly in comparison to most of G.I.JOE. Even Joseph Gordon-Levitt couldn't rise above the suck of that one.

The only movie ive seen that Channing Tatum was decent in was A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints with RDJ, though they never played opposite of each other. I really hope that rumor is false, why not give somebody else a shot, him and John Cena are interchangable

Nothing in those links indicate that Tatum is being offered the role. It only mentions he is among the candidates.

Lets back up and take a deep breath.
Could he end up in the role, well yeah, now that he is in the running but it could be any of about 4-6 guys still.

Tatum is just the latest name in the mix.

Frankly I found the DHD piece mentioning the actresses they've approached for the female lead most interesting as that is the first we've heard of the leading lady role.

Alice Eve is the bombshell in She's Out Of My League. Fans won't complain if she gets the role.

Channing Tatum.

Damn.

I would have given John Krasinski the benefit of the doubt, but Channing Tatum is one person that would make this movie a no-go for me.

I made the mistake of seeing G.I. Joe. I'll never willingly pay money to see a movie in which this dingus is a star.

Here's hoping that he's nowhere near getting the part.

Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, says they heard a rumour that the female lead is Betsy Ross (who was his actual Golden Age girlfriend), but I'd doubt that; quite apart from Peggy's tie to his Modern Age girlfriend, Betsy Ross is probably too close to Betty Ross.

Blunt would be interesting, since she had to drop out of playing Black Widow, and she in Joe Johnston's last film.

DarkHorizons.com is just reporting the Tatum news but in addition say that Ryan Phillippe has joined the list of candidates.

So at one point back in late Feb we were told how they were seeking unknowns for the lead. That must've been a real dud of a search cause it seems remotely to well known is what has been making the rounds these last few weeks.
