Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Great writer, though. He knows how to write Star Wars, that much is clear.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Point. (Seriously, he has characters say that way too much. It got annoying over the years. )
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII He knows to start books with Star Destroyers - so there's that.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Sometimes - occasionally - the very best Star Wars tends to begin with a Star Destroyer.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Even after all the decades of adventures and close calls with destruction, Artoo always cleans up well. He's rarely been that clean, polished and shiny. Some of these droids were built to last.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII It's remarkable (if you think about it) that a beeping tin can actually has personality.. let alone that much personality!
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII A rolling trash can with a blinking dome has more personality than Anakin Skywalker. Who'd have guessed?
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII ^Every Star Wars fan knows that Artoo is the real hero of the saga. Everyone else is just a supporting character.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Artoo is just a CPU. They probably put him in a new body every decade
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII By the time the Sequel Trilogy is completed Artoo and Threepio will be the only characters who appear in all nine Episodes of the Saga (unless spirit Anakin and/or Obi-Wan surface to guide Luke in each of the new films).
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Wow, that's a really great picture of Mark, Carrie, and Harrison!
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII But seriously, who are the other two in that picture besides Abrams and R2?
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII The woman is Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, George's successor. I don't recognize the guy on the far right.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII It's George Osbourne, a British Chancellor. The three are announcing the first stand-alone Star Wars film will be filmed in Britain
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII First injury on set. Looks like Ford hurt his ankle. Link
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Clearly, it's the front part of the cockpit canopy. For a second I thought I might be the gun port, but that window doesn't have the lower sections blanked off. Might not be so far from the truth. with all he's been through I wouldn't be surprised if by now there isn't an original part left in him. Like Trigger's broom from 'Only Fools and Horses'; "...maintained it for 20 years. This old brooms had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time."
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII I know I shouldn't laugh, but a 71 year old Harrison Ford getting hurt by the door of the Millennium Falcon is just too funny.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII A significant chunk of Artoo was probably replaced when they had to repair him after the Battle of Yavin. Vader's TIE Fighter cannons had blasted a huge hole in him and rendered him a smoldering metal can, and the Rebel technicians at the base likely had to switch out old and even original components so that they could repair him in time for the medal ceremony.
