I'm not sure what I think of this. Apparently, the director of the US National Security Agency, General Keith Alexander, initiated a project to build an "information dominance center" which was inspired by the design of the Enterprise bridge. They even had a production designer from Hollywood consult on the project. (Though no word if it was Herman Zimmerman!) Here's the CNET news article on it: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-5...by-nsa-directors-star-trek-operations-center/ And here is an article from The UK Guardian which has (alleged) pictures of the center: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/15/nsa-mind-keith-alexander-star-trek I'm no fan of the NSA at this moment in time. And you can certainly make the argument that they went to a lot of trouble and spent a lot of taxpayer dollars to make this thing look similar to the Enterprise bridge. OTOH, the bridge -- particularly the bridge from TOS and the TOS movies -- have often been cited as examples of efficient operational designs. So it might make sense to copy from them. What do you all think?
I think... that there is already a thread on this topic! http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=225973
