I was just working on setting up the Memory Beta page for What Judgements Come, the next Vanguard novel, and I noticed that there is a comic called "The Humanitarian" under in the "other stories featuring Starbase Vanguard" box. Does anyone know anything about this, or what role Vanguard plays in it?

It isn't really Vanguard. "The Humanitarian" is the second-last story in the third volume of TokyoPop's Star Trek: The Manga. Toward the end of the story, the Enterprise is shown docked at a "Starbase 47" that uses the same design as the Vanguard starbase, but the story places it much closer to Federation territory than the one in the novels, as well as putting it in orbit of a planet. And the focus of the sequence is entirely on the characters aboard Enterprise, with just one panel showing the starbase and one or two mentions of Starbase 47 in dialogue. So it's more an oblique homage to Vanguard than something that can actually fit into the series' continuity.

I figured it was probably something like that.
