"Oh no" - Andrew Bird [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Upqcu2DWK8g[/yt] I listened to the free song of the day last year when it was on iTunes, and bought the whole album. It's terrific, but this is still my favorite song.
^Nice. Which recording? Oddly enough, I'm listening to "Already Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. I'm not ordinarily big on power ballads, but I heard this song playing at the mall, and really liked the chorus. And I was going to HMV anyway, so I asked the clerk to come out of the store, and see if he could tell me what the song was. He must have thought I was nuts, but to his credit, he identified it pretty quickly.
It's on TV right now, actually - BBC Proms, French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, at the Royal Albert Hall, from last Tuesday. And now, on this glorious Sunday morning: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YiAxlDF_9E[/yt]

With Winehouse's "Rehab" being played in an endless loop it seems in stores and in TV reports I've had that going through my head all weekend. Trying to combat it with "Forever Autumn" and "The Spirit of Man" from the Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds musical. Hilarious bit of trivia I recently learned: Forever Autumn originally began life as a jingle for Lego blocks in the late 1960s! Quite a way from that to being the love theme for a Martian invasion. War of the Worlds didn't get Rehab out of my head. But this did. The Youtube clip is only the first couple of verses, but once you hear "My Girl's Hot for Spock" by Men Into Space it'll probably drive all other memes from your mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5zdegz8rFs Alex

Right now I'm listening to the very loud rumblings of my stomach resonating through the soundboard of my new guitar...
