I'm watching a bit of the Oregon game and they only had 5 minutes of time of possession in the first half. That's not good.

It probably explains why they're down by 19-0. I heard the announcer say they've had six different three-and-outs this game. Thats not helping at all.

I'm guessing Mallory is not enjoying this game so far...

That punch - wow. The punchee wasn't even looking when he threw it. I imagine Blount will be benched for at least a few games.

Yeah, that game was pretty much the nightmare that I've been worrying about for the past month or so. With a new head coach and bunch of new players I had a real bad feeling about Oregon's ability to pull it together in time for the first game. As for the punch, that was simply inexcusable. Blount was suspended for a couple of games last year and for pretty much the first six months of this year. He just got reinstated to the program in July. I'd be very surprised if he gets off lightly this time.

I didn't know the guy was a repeat offender. He's clearly talented, since he set a team record for touchdowns last year. But I guess he's got a bit of a temper eh?

I'll still be pulling for the Ducks against USC Mallory. A win in that game and you can forget all about yesterday.

Hell they can go 1-10 and as long as that 1 is against USC, I would call it a good season. :p

^It wouldn't be a college football thread if it wasn't full of Trojan hating! :p

Speaking of hate, I haven't seen a whole lot of Notre Dame hate yet this year. They might not be a top dog, but it doesn't stop me from piling on! Even people in South Bend are getting in on the hate. This is a billboard near Notre Dame's campus:

If anyone's interested, Oregon suspended Blount for the season, including any bowl games.

^That seems incredibly harsh. I was figuring 1-2 games.

The kid had already been suspended in the spring for missing team meetings and workouts. I say good for Oregon to have the balls to pull the trigger. It was a gutless, chickenshit move. Blount didn't even have the guts to stand up to the guy after he punched him, backing up instead.

ESPN was saying that he went from a predicted 2nd-3rd round choice to undraftable.

That punch cost him about 5-10 million dollars.

I applaud the decision as well. I love seeing Oregon have a nationally recognized program, but not if it costs them their integrity.

Sounds about right. He had no excuse for doing that. This is college football, there's still a bit of sportsmanship left, hopefully.

Penn State looked very good in the first half and absolutely sucked in the second. Consequently I am less than pleased with that game.

Well, it took USC a minute to get going, but after the first quarter it was business as usual.

Granted, San Jose State is not a great test of our mettle, but it's a good start.

Some nice stats from the game:

Rushing yards: USC 340, SJSU 2

Total Yards: USC 620, SJSU 115

Also, I lost count but USC must have thrown SJSU for a loss on at least 20 plays.

Given what OSU looked like against Navy today, USC may have a shot next week after all.
