Don't you know I live under a rock, in a dark cave, on Mars? In other words, if it didn't happen in this thread or the Other One, I didn't see it.

Well, relook at my post, since I've ETA the thread in question re: questions.

(The other thread that introduced the idea got heated fairly quickly.)

OK, I just found the thread and read it. That was really nice of her to go to all that effort of setting this up and taking questions. I always liked her as an author, and now I have even more respect for her.

I wondered why you didn't pipe up with a contibution for the panel.

Then again, I figured you were still passed out from froot's blow dart.

I wouldn't have posted an opinion, anyway. I don't really want Janeway to come back, because I don't think that the majority of TrekLit authors are able to write her the way she should be written. I'd prefer to read fanfic written by people who understand her and the characters who were close to her. However, I do support the Bring Her Back movement on principal - as an expression of devotion to a favorite character.

    Isn't that sad?

    :weep:

Wanting a fav character to remain "dead"/AWOL just because dead is better than character assasination?

I know what you mean about "not trusting"... and in fact that idea was raised in the previous thread that Janewayites should "be careful what they wished for", because the person brought back may bear only a superficial resemblence to our Beloved Captain.

    And that's what's really sad.

    :sigh:

The worry that small people with mean hearts would bring her back to "teach us" a lesson. And once they assassinate her good character and the legion of fans abandon the books, they can then POINT to our flight as evidence "we" were never a large enough audience to cater to in the first place.

    :brickwall:

I guess its time to find another Admiral Janeway story worth writing.

I have my theory as to how that panel will go but I'll wait for the reports. Apparently we will be able to see a vid of it. I've been keeping the BBKJ FB open to see if anyone checks in with comments.

OK, I missed a few things when I had my dental surgery a few weeks ago - I didn't realize until this morning that Froot had made this. I am beside myself with joy. Have y'all seen it? Doesn't matter. Here it is, y'all can go watch it again.

^ Hey, if I knew how to make sand paintings of fish, I'd do it as a pastime too. :D Also, seconded on the sweet neck rubs and cooking.

Poor Possum and her possum teeth. :( I'm happy the mistress of comedy herself liked it a bit! Someday, I will maybe come close to the genius that is The Clapper. Someday. But that day is a ways off yet.

Oh, mercy, I love it! It was the very first vid I watched with my wide screen/fake surround sound headphones combo and it was SO worth it!

I adore the spider monkey video, SO MUCH BETTER than the ep, LOLOL. If only..

Anyway a very newbie question for you vidders. How can you tell prior to using music whether you can or not? As in, will youtube pull the sound?

The best way to do that is to do a test vid with just the song and one slide, something that you will take down right away. And use a dummy account for that, of course. However, I once got stung with that. My test was fine, but they updated their bot while I was making my vid and I was blocked.

Why? Are you thinking about making a vid? *bounces* Do it! Do it!

Yeah I am, but it will be a very simple one. You know how it tells you how to buy a song on itunes a lot of the time, I assume those songs are always okay to use in a vid?

Paying for the song is irrelevant. Unless you wrote and/or performed the song, it's illegal to use it, and the composer/artist/publisher can sue you (they won't, unless you're a billionaire and never told us) and YouTube (which is why YouTube uses bots to detect and remove such vids.) The only exception to this is boring elevator music that is released for free use. You can find some of that on YouTube if you're interested.

That being said, I'm totally excited to see your vid!!!!
