A bit of a shame. She lost her last bit of wilful ignorance. Would have made lots of viewers who relate to Clara uneasy.

Funny how Moffat kept talking about how "bad" Invasion Of Time was when hyping this episode and all we get is one corridor shot over and over again and a couple of dull rooms.

Plus who wrote the Time War book and why is it in English (the TARDIS doesn't translate Gallifreyan)?

And why not stick some props that relate back more than a couple of years in there? At one point Clara picks up an umbrella. Why not use a multi-coloured one or one with a Question Mark handle?

And on a different note is anyone else fed up that the Doctor and Clara converse almost completely in One-Liners?

Love Clara, less chavy than the previous era's companions and less in awe of The Doctor than Amy was. She has been especially good in Cold War and Hide.

I suspect you don't actually know what that word means.

Well, I doubt it's in the Oxford English Dictionary but I'd class Rose and Donna as chavy.

Average, maybe I was expecting too much.

I liked they had the cheek to have an actual reset button, we saw the swimming pool finally and I liked the library.

The zombies were rubbish though and the salvage team were poor.

Visually, this series has been pretty cracking. That dolly(?) shot around the console in the beginning was really nice and I think this looked great. I loved that the TARDIS had a quarry in it.

The twist with the "android" was bizarre, would anyone actually do that?

I'm a little torn between whether "Fire Woman" was too clever for its own good or not.

Yeah, (semi-?)reset buttons are really never very welcome but I thought it was an OK romp. I might be being too generous as I've been trying to tamper my expectations as I think I've been too critical lately of what is ultimately "just a show". I could've sworn at a couple points there was either too many people or someone was missing, something to watch for in another viewing I suppose.

    Rose is Working Class.

    Donna is lower Middle-Class.

Both of them have jobs, don't sponge benefits off the State, spend their days getting drunk or spitting out unplanned babies. So in what way are they "Chavy"? It can't be just because they're unafraid to speak up for themselves rather know knowing their place, is it?

Both the production team and Billie Piper refer to Rose as a chav. I'm not sure why this is even being debated.

I'm just glad the show moved away from that trend. Especially in Series 4, I think the show glorified the stupidity of the companion too much. Doctor Who has always been a show about fighting ignorance, not worshipping it.

    No.

And as someone who grew up in a household with virtually no money left once bills were paid, who almost never had new clothes and never went on a holiday beyond staying in a relative's caravan in the country I get slightly ticked off at the Right-Wing portrayal of anyone who's not well-off as workshy scum.

Pretty much nails it. Dullest 'maze' of corridors imaginable', a real lack of interesting rooms glimpsed, and haven't you got any old control rooms knocking around anywhere ?

    Totally missed opportunity....

And back to the episode... what did you guys think of the Doctor's self-destruct deal? Maybe the reveal of that should've coincided with that of the brother and made some kind of statement. I know the Doctor can be manipulative but to con these guys with that as well as the salvage seemed a bit nasty.

Is that an actual Donna quote? I tried rewatching Series 4 last year and failed about 20 minutes in to Partners in Crime, after having just barely endured Voyage of the Damned.

Clara hasn't floored me or anything but nothing about her annoys me yet other than some of the flirty dialogue like "Snog box!" or whatever. In Cold War she was fucking brilliant, which is odd as Mark Gatiss failed disastrously when writing Amy in Victory of the Daleks.

I thought when he first claimed to have activated it that it'd be funny if he was just lying so I felt like a mild comedic genius when my idea turned out to be what happened.

I like manipulative Doctor. Reminded me of the Seventh Doctor :).
