Question: Is the Voyager Opening The best Star Trek opening sequence? For me it is...the music is great and the space scenes are great.
I prefer the one with Kes in the credits. While Seven is my favorite character ever ever, the credits of season 4-7 are always tinged with sadness to me because I remember that Kes isn't there anymore.
Yeah, I absolutely love Voyager's opening theme. The whole thing is great. However, I kind of wish the visuals had changed throughout the seasons to show that they were entering new parts of space on their journey home.
It still gets me every time. I love them all, but this one was the best ever. And for the record, I always thought it showed Voyager leaving our solar system to explore the unknown... but maybe that was just an emotional response.
A bit loaded to put that poll in the Voyager forum, no? To me, it's a clean tie between the VOY and TNG, but as a matter of loyalty (and counterbalance to this poll's location), I went with TNG.
For me it's a close run between Enterprise and Voyager. I'm going to give it to Voyager as the season 3/4 remix of Faith of the Heart was basically the worst thing ever and I'm a sucker for Jerry Goldsmith.
Where sheer production value is concerned, I would have to go with VOY. The colors, the images, the sequence of the frames and the associated music make up a pretty much perfect whole, and it gives you that feeling of grandeur that goes so well with a Star Trek series. But overall, I think the TNG opening sequence is the best of them all because it's the most emblematic. It has a very strong and recognizable theme that translates very well into music the spirit of Star Trek expressed in that famous spoken intro. The sense of adventure and wonder, the drive to "boldly go" and explore. And Patrick Stewart's rendition of that intro gives the whole thing weight and substance. It's burned into my brain.
^ Visually, I'll admit, it's not very impressive - even after the additions in Season 4. But, IMO, the music more than makes up for it. DS9 has the most beautiful theme of all Trek as far as I'm concerned. If we're going to go just by visuals.... VOY > ENT > DS9 > TNG > TOS If we're going to go just by music.... DS9 > TNG > VOY > TOS > ENT Taking both into account, however, my preference is.... DS9 > VOY > TNG > ENT > TOS
That would have been pretty cool - a new intro for each season, maybe? - though it's hard to imagine them topping the one and only for sheer pretty-planet effects. Quite. I wonder if it would have worked to mix the TNG intro music with the Voyager theme, sort of like: Dee... Dum... Da... Dum... (TOS/TNG) Bum-pa-dum, bum-bum-bum-bum-bah - (TNG) Bum, dum, Dum! Pum dum: doo, da da da dee-doh... (VOY)
I like the VOY visuals second best (close on the heels on ENT) and the best for that style of intro. TOS was pretty low-budget, and most of TNG after the ship shows up is just the ship flying past stars. VOY is breath-taking. My favorite shots are the nebula, the ice planet, and the "alien dawn" at the end. I'm in the process of making up lyrics to the intro. Right now they're not very worked out. I started out with the bit at the end (1;17), which is, "Keep on watching our show." Still working on most of it, though you can sing the following along with the main theme (17 sec in): "This is Voyager, just a ship called Voyager. It's Voyager. Our Voyager. Voyager, oh yeah. Janeway is the captain..." that's as far as I've gotten. I have fun singing along, "keep on watching our show" at the very end, though.
It definitely got better when they introduced the Defiant and actually showed things going on around the station. It was terribly boring in the first season.
They're referring to the opening sequence not the show, this thread is about the opening sequences remember....
Yeah, I know. When they introduced the Defiant into the show, they re-did the opening sequence and included the Defiant and other ships flying around the station.
They actually changed the opening sequence tune slightly in season 4, not season 3 which is when the Defiant was introduced. By the way, who is in your avatar?
