A completely temporary placeholder name for a project I'm still not sure I'm following through with. The name doesn't mean anything per se, it's just a largely obtuse inside joke. I figured I'd stop bumping the 'Twisted Web' thread since that project is completely on hold, at least until I have the time to at least attempt to organize a partially live action production. The only thing getting recycled from that project is some of the 3d models.

Re: Project Iliad [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGQndmdMXbA&feature=youtu.be&hd=1[/YT] The asteroid exterior still needs some work, but concept-wise I think it'll work
Re: Project Iliad You have done it again!!! You are makinig me "Jones" for this even more. You could do your main project in 5 or 10 parts... Doing it in small parts will keep interest up and help build a fan following. I think if ST ever comes back to TV, this is the way to go. A anthology serries could be done, jumping form TOS to STNG and Enterpris, using the computer animation you are doing.
Re: Project Iliad Thank you! Here's something a little different.. It's going to be visible on a rather large monitor in one of my sets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocyejuUkT_s&feature=youtu.be&hd=1 [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocyejuUkT_s&feature=youtu.be&hd=1[/YT]

Re: Unnamed project / Iliad One more of the outside of Earth Outpost 7, still planning on revising the shuttle and the asteroid itself http://youtu.be/g38CBZpYcqg?hd=1 [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g38CBZpYcqg&feature=youtu.be&hd=1[/YT] Oh and if a moderator happens to see this, could the thread title be changed to "Unnamed project / Iliad" if possible? Thanks
Although I know you plan to change the title, I've given you an active listing under "Star Trek: Iliad" at Star Trek Reviewed, here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/210.html , you are (I).
Need two volunteers to read a handful of lines of dialog I'm going to try and finish up the opening sequence, but it's really hard to pace the animation without having a rough idea how many seconds each shot needs to last. To that end, I have about a dozen lines divided up over two characters that I could use dialog for. One is the guy in the EVA suit: http://youtu.be/VL--_ppUa2g?hd=1 [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL--_ppUa2g&feature=youtu.be&hd=1[/YT] The other is going to be sitting in the office that appeared a few videos back. The entire scene takes place in, on, and around Earth Outpost 7 If anyone is interested please let me know, and I can pm the lines along with an email address to send them to. Also, these are not re-occurring characters. They appear only in this one scene
Right now, it just refers my readers to this thread, but I have created a space for Star Trek: Iliad at http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/210.html (I)
Yikes! I'm working against the weather here, summer came a bit too early.. I probably don't have more than another month of usable rendering weather. Once it starts getting 90(+)F out it's just too hot to run my desktop!! Thing really cranks out heat when it's rendering non-stop
We had snow in October. That didn't mean we had a snowy winter. We are hot in March. That may or may not mean we have a hot spring. Stay tuned. Europe had a very cold winter. We got their weather, they got ours. England is across the Atlantic... from CANADA. And not the most Southern part of Canada. New York is across from the South of France. Texas and the Gulf Coast are across from the northern half of the Sahara. But that's not a usual weather pattern. I am not denying global warming, but the weird weather here is more associated to the weird solar cycle we are having. The sunspot cycle was supposed to have peaked in 2010... 11 years after the last peak, 1999. But instead, it's continued to go up the last two years. More sunspots = hotter sun. But if the wind comes to the US from the north, we'll get weather that is CLOSER to normal. We just got hit by a big solar flare. That also messes with our weather and temperature. Stay tuned. We could suddenly have no sunspots and go into a second 'little ice age'... a period when the earth was very cold and people thought Galileo was seeing things when he claimed there were spots on the sun. (No sunspots, cooler sun...)
Well, whenever and however summer gets here, that's when I have to stop animating. I built my desktop with raw rendering power in mind, so despite being 3 years old, it's still crazy fast.. but it puts out so much heat that it actually manages to offset the air conditioning in the summer. edit: I still have plenty of time to come up with a work around though.
Spent a little time redressing Prologic9's proxy shuttle, same shuttle as in the asteroid animation. It's a simple model, but I like the lines. Just different enough from a Class F to pass for a different type of shuttle. Redid the registry, obviously. Also added some landing gear, opening doors, pop-out headlights, and a simple interior. All based on requirements of the scene Thought it's worth mentioning that while much of the time I build my own stuff, when a high quality mesh is already publicly available, as is frequently the case for exterior models of trek ships, I tend to start from that and modify as needed with credit of course to the original modelers.
