You know what really irks me about "Insurrection"?

In case of Worf, we can impute that to Klingon biological characteristics. Some species may react more quickly than others. It would explain why Worf had this acne crisis in his thirties and Picard remained bald. But, it doesn't explain for Geordi. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think I'm wrong saying that blindness from birth is a bigger medical deal than cataracts and hormonal changes.

IRC, Geordi was blind from birth, not by accident or illness. So his eye repairing themselves should have been a big fucking deal; especially to Dr. Crusher.

I wonder if Picard had been there a bit longer if stubble would have arrived, follow in time by normal growth of hair?

A friend of mine shaves his head and only need to do so twice a week to remain "clean."

Picard is in the brier patch what, three or four days? Maybe his hair follicles were working again, we just didn't get a chance to see it.

It would be the logical explanaition, but Geordi's eyes....I don't think we can treat this can of blindness with minoxidil, huhuhu.

The EMH was able to replace one of Seven's eyes when he largely "de-Borg'ed" her. I don't think LaForge's blindness wasin his eye's (although they were milky) but rather the birth defect that resulted in his blindness was in his brain structure. A abnormality there.

I've just rewatched the movie on Netflix and finally, Admiral I-almost-died-like-in-James-Bond said it would take 10 years to Son'a to rejuvenate.....in fact it remains bullshit. At this stage, they would have hardly able to play bingo. And of course....GEORDI'S EYES.

Oh, and I didn't catch that Ba'ku patriarch was named Sojef. What a poor brainstorm job!

Did he die in Matrix III? I hated so much this movie that I've never rewatched it.:rommie:

    - Hey guys, we need a name for the father figure!
    - Ivan??
    - No it's gonna already be a visual rip-off of Safety Dance's video clip, there's no more place for references to Men Without Hats.
    - Fuck you Frakes! The real name of the bad guy is for your whole career, because it's totally rotting. And his alias, Ruffles, because eating chips is your only talent. I wouldn't even let you directing a Thunderbirds episode.
    - Come on gentlemen, we need more decorum.
    - ...
    - Hey, guys, maybe we could name this character Joseph. It's the name of a famous carpenter and father...
    - GREAT! Judeo-Christian names for aliens!
    - Ok, we will be more subtle. Phojesh, Phojef.....

He didn't die in the Matrix films.

While the imagined dialogue is mildly entertaining, I think that's a bit of a stretch.

And have said Federation fleet be a Section 31 fleet, and this be a Section 31 operation from the very beginning...but with the added kicker of justice not being done as the Federation can't (won't) really be able to find Section 31 or what it did, making the victory an uncertain one as the Ba'ku still won't be safe.

What is everyone's fascination with Section 31? Can't we do a "morally gray" story without them being involved? I find stories more interesting when people have an honest disagreement over what's right and wrong.

I enjoy a good S31 story ("Inquisition", "Inter Arma...") but I don't think their presence would improve the plot of INS. It seems more like an attempt to whitewash the story by shifting the blame to an evil organization rather than the IMO more interesting idea that the Federation is more willing to make moral sacrifices under desperate circumstances.

Going by the show, they're the only group of people in the Federation that's consistently pragmatic, utilitarian, and equipped with foresight. Lots of people think they're evil because they don't buy into the Roddenberry ideal universe/philosophy, but that makes them look reasonable to other people.

Section 31 is evil because they don't have any oversight or accountability. They literally do whatever they want to do, whenever they want, for whatever reason they want. They don't answer to anyone - not even the president. THAT's what makes them evil.

I don't see Section 31 as being evil. They're more ruthlessly pragmatic and morally ambiguous.

I'm still not sold on the Federation's desperate circumstances in this movie.

We don't know when the movie takes place so it could be near the end of the Dominion War when the Federation was winning or even after the war so a fountain of youth wouldn't be some uber necessary thing.

And even if the war was still going on I fail to see how the particles will help since the only possible medical benefits listed where lengthen life spans and curing the blind both of which they already have and both of which aren't really a game changer in a war especially one against mass produced clones.

And even in universe it's not really impressive for a group that once developed the technology to practically be god on there own.

And are a rogue criminal organization and basically terrorists.

If you don't believe the Federation's operating under a sense of desperation at the time, then it would seem the Federation government is even more prone to making moral sacrifices. At least if the Dominion War's running hot and heavy at the time we can say, "Well, they were desperate." If that's not the case then that excuse, as you noted, flies out the window (at least to a degree, since doubtless post-war there are still people suffering from the war's effects).
