Could Neutral Zone level preachiness ever happen in NuTrek?

I would say no. Look Picard buddy if you wan't to preach the Starfleet gospel you gotta be at least a little bit nice to the savage stock brokers and country singers of the 20th century.

To treat it seriously, could a new director make fun of 21st century humans?

I doubt it, primarily because the 23rd century FEELS very 21st century.

What a couple of completely annoying characters. Picard should have put those two back to sleep on the S.S. Birdseye.

I don't care for the way that episode was written. Who with any sense would let those two have free run of the ship without someone keeping an eye on them, allowing the annoying businessman that we're supposed to hate to stroll onto the bridge and enter into a confrontation/discussion with one of Starfleet's biggest long-term enemies?

    Why?

Picard had shown little wisdom and much arrogance in that episode.

I'm not too sure why this thread is here. It seems to be more about Picard and one particular TNG episode than anything, and not really about alt-reality Trek at all. I suppose it could go in Future of Trek, but a rethink of the thread idea might be in order first before it gets reposted there.

    Closing.
