2011 also featured the release of X-Men: First Class. So there were three Marvel films that year, but only two of them were in the MCU.

It sounds like the movie is going to be called X-Men: Apocalypse (which sounds better anyway) according to Bryan Singer's Twitter and other media outlets. There seems to be a lot of "Age of" titles anyway recently (i.e. Avengers: Age of Ultron and Transformers: Age of Extinction).

Here's a description of what is alleged to be the Days of Future Past post credits scene that reveals how they'll be handling Apocalypse in the next movie. Spoiler warning of course if this is legit.

That's a relief because that scene sounds horrible.

According to Vulture X-Men: Apocalypse will focus on just the First Class cast and Bryan Singer is indeed back in the director's chair. They also put credence in First Showing's description of the post-credits scene for Days of Future Past linked to earlier. Here's Vulture's story.

I'm really glad Bryan Singer is returning.

I thought Days of Future Past would simply be the last X-Men film he would direct. It almost seems like he's doing another trilogy of X-Men films. I hope it pans out.

I'm also glad that it is focusing on the First Class cast. While I am very excited to see the original trilogy cast again for Days of Future Past, I am/was a little worried that they would overshadow McAvoy, Fassbender, etc. X-Men: First Class is my favorite X-Men film after X2 (despite it being the lowest grossing) so I think they deserve their own sequel.

As for the rumored post-credits scene, I hope it is not true. While I would be okay with it, I know erudite fans would probably hate it.

I am glad he killed that rumor so quickly.

I am very excited about Singer's continued involvement in the X-men. His movies are what made me an X-men fan. Before that I had watched the 90s cartoon but never really got the mass appeal of the comics. I was a big reader, mostly a DC guy. I never liked the art and the endless characters and titles made those impossible to get into. But the movies stripped it back to its core concept.

Its remarkable that in this area of constant reboots that this series is still continuing as long as it has. Given how many characters it has, it makes more sense to continue by focusing on new characters. By doing prequels and timeline travel, alternate history they can recast but build on what they have done before.

I wonder who they'll cast as Apocalypse. I'd suggest Clancy Brown, but I think he would be better suited as Cable. This might be retreading a somewhat similar character in The Mummy movies, but Arnold Vosloo would be cool too.

Hmm, well, En Sabah Nur is supposed to be a native of what's now Jordan, so ideally he should be played by someone from that part of the world, or someone who can pass for it. Alexander Siddig, Naveen Andrews, somebody like that. Although that may be expecting too much of Hollywood.

Hollywood usually goes with Cumberbatch in situations like that.
