I don't think this has been posted here yet, but Simon & Schuster now has an excerpt of The Romulan War on their website.
Defcon thanks for posting this Enterprise book excerpt. That was one heck of a suprise in that chapter. And definitely is going to anger a certain Starfleet Captain.
Spoiler: Enterprise book spoilers The Romulans attacks have increased at the edges of Coalition space. Archer has received reports of heavy losses and is supposed to rendevouz with other ships to investigate the attacks by the romulans If you read the new excerpt in the new StarTrek magazine it's tells you in more detail about Captain Archer and recent events happening since Kobai Yashi maru was destroyed and the fact it takes place after the recent events in the last book left off.
Are these books going to follow NF now and come out in a year as a MMPB? Also, for the life of me I can't remember how the actual Romulan War started in the last book. Was that Coridan or was that two books back?
If they announced that, then not enough people would support the trade. It was originally announced as several MMPBs and instead switched to at least one meatier trade. If that trade succeeds there may well be more. And, so far, most trade-sized novels have come out in MMPB... eventually.
"Announced" is overstating it. Early in the process, Margaret said something in a post or interview that suggested she was thinking about it as multiple MMPBs, but that was well before there was anything formal to announce. Sometimes, some editors will let things slip in public about tentative ideas, and fans tend to mistake those passing, preliminary thoughts for definite plans and therefore believe that there's been some kind of reversal when the more evolved plans turn out to be something different. Recall how the early speculations about A Time to... being 12 books slipped out as well.
Eh, that's what the library is for, i get all the TPBs and HCs that way. Takes me out of the sales pool, as I rarely buy the MMPB after i have read the HC or TPB. If it's out in MMPB first, i pretty much buy it without pause.
