McG is to Abrams what Eminem is to Mozart more like.

McG is an idiot and a hack.

I'm still not quite sure how people can be excited about the new Terminator movie when it's being brought to us by the visionary behind the Charlie's Angels movies.

But the last trailer looked interesting, so hell, it might turn out okay.

    I'll be slightly amazed though.

Any director who professionally calls himself "McG" probably shouldnt compare themselves to a classical composer. J.J's direction is uninspired but Star Trek was far superior to Charlie's Angels, even the most negative fan can surely admit that.

Actually his name is Joseph McGinty Nichol, who has chosen to use his childhood nickname as his professional moniker, even Cliffy B realised that you are more likely to receive professional respect if you dont insist everyone call you by your nickname.

Right, but that's what he's been known as for his whole life.

Still, you don't use it if you want to sound professional. There are no CEOs called Bubba.

McG sounds like a toxic biproduct.

Sounds like the newest crap sandwich at McDicks..

    J/K. ;)

I don't really have anything against McG (unless he's raping childhoods. :( ). I lOVE his work on Supernatural, and I'm looking forward to Terminator.

And it's great to hear so much praise for JJ in Hollywood. The Trek franchise is in good hands, folks!

I had my suspicions, too, but afer I saw him at Wonder Con, I'm more optimistic. He definitely seems to know how to separate the good (T1 and T2) from the bad (96% of T3) when it comes to that franchise.

Terminator has the advantage of being an inherently "cool" franchise. Even T3 couldn't wreck that.

Alien had the same advantage, but it really got wrecked...

We Are Marshall is an example of a great story that was reduced to an above average movie because of the director, in this case McG.
