No he bulked up, David Prowse (Darth Vader) trained him and put him on a four meal a day high protein diet - when they originally cast him there was a worry that he was too thin to be a convincing superman and there were plans to put pads in the costume:

Reeve was still a bit lean in the first movie, but by II he was pretty massive. It's most obvious in the face, with became much more square in the second movie.

Weren't Superman I and II filmed at the same time?

That was the original plan, but it didn't entirely work out that way. When they ran behind schedule, they halted filming on Part II in order to concentrate on getting the first film done on time.

So they ended up filming only part of II at the same time, but had to film the rest of it later on (with a new director to boot).

I've been marathoning Supernatural lately, so I'm definitely onboard with the fan-casting of Jensen Ackles. Orlando Bloom? Umm... no thank you.

I was watching DEXTER last night and couldn't help thinking that Michael Hall would be suitably scary and intense as Batman . . ..

I guess if Orlando Bloom can beef up then I think he could do well as Batman.

I just can't see him as Batman.

Bloom, you mean? Neither can I.

Then again, I remember the fannish uproar when they cast Michael Keaton as Batman. ("Mr. Mom? Give me a break!") But he surprised us all . . . .

And I remember Heath Ledger as the Joker being greeted with skepticism as well.

He sure would, but I already fan-cast him as my perfect Lex Luthor.

I have a feeling the names circling around for the past 7 to 8 years will get second consideration.

People wanted Cavill for Superman Returns.

    So far i've heard

    Ian Somerhalder- Batman

Matthew Bomer- Another contender for Superman

    Michael C Hall- Luthor

    Jim Caviezel- Batman and Superman

Those are the few that keep popping up.

They finished the bulk of Superman II under Donner but had to refilm much of it in order to put Richard Lester's name on the movie as it's director.

I'm still pissed that the idiot Salkinds fired Donner. That would have been like firing Peter Jackson after the success of the first LOTR! We could have gotten a much better Superman II if Donner had stayed!:scream::brickwall:

Or like insisting he not direct The Hobbit after the success of the LOTR trilogy!

New Line refused to pay what was owed to Jackson from the profits of LOTR trilogy, which is why he refused to direct the Hobbit movies at first.

I think Jim Caviezel would make a great Batman, especially after seeing him in Person of Interest. He's already got the voice down pat!

I agree. I have my fingers crossed and hope some Hollywood casting agent agrees!
