I hope they put her in a team-up book with Miracleman.

We've all met Neil Gaimen, or people like Neil Gaimen.

They still think it's the 80s.

For the cost of 2 packs of cigarettes and 8 black coffees a day you can sponsor a discredited English journalist turned prolific Novelist and comic book author to keep them out of crackwhore dungeons like Marvel's House of Ideas.

    "Sigh"

I don't get it, either, and I remember Spawn #9 and the Angela mini-series. *shrug*

Yet, Quesada compares her emergence in the Marvel Universe to Avengers #4 and the Silver Age return of Captain America. Which demonstrates that either Quesada has no idea what he's talking about or we simply don't know enough about her role in the Marvel Universe.

And I can't dismiss the idea that Marvel bought Angela solely to annoy Todd McFarlane. In the wider world, that move doesn't make any sense -- the man on the street has no idea who McFarlane is and may only have a glancing familiarity with Gaiman -- but Quesada is petty enough to do it.

On a tangential note, if Marvel if going to treat its multiverse in a pre-Crisis DC fashion, as appears likely, I for one would really like to see the Ultraverse resurrected.

They may have simply bought her simply because some one was trying to sell her.

It's just Marvel hyping something that doesn't really matter to the majority of fans. The only people who would remotely be excited about Angela's inclusion into the Marvel Universe are Angela fans...or hardcore Spawn fans. I still think this is just a pre-cursor to the introduction of Marvel Man.

There are hardcore Spawn fans? :)

As far as I can tell, even Gaiman's hardcore fans, and they are many, are giving this a yawn.

I've tried to entertain that thought, but I keep coming back to the problem that there's no connection between the two characters -- except that Gaiman created one and wrote for the other. One is an angel that fights demons. The other is Captain Marvel. Yeah, not seeing the connection. :)

With the end of AoU, there doesn't really need to be a connection between them, does there? Miracleman can show up in the MU the same way Angela did.

It's the use of the word "precursor." It implies a connection, that one event arises because of the other.

Perhaps there isn't a connection. I guess I was referring to the multiverse break down. It opens up introducing Marvel Man now. Poor word choice use by me? :)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The question of course is how. Marvel Man exists in own universe. Will he come over to the 616 a la Angela (and leave his continuity behind)? Will they begin anew and introduce a 616 Mickey Moran? How would either version of Marvel Man, a Superman level character, fit in with the Marvel Universe? They tried it with Sentry and it bombed. They seem to be trying it again with Hyperion, though he (or at least a couple of versions of him) at least has a real history within the Marvel Universe. And most importantly, will Marvel Man be British?

The only reason that htere may be changes to Angela's backstory is that Marvel doesn't own any other part of Spawn canon. Marvel, however owns Marvelman and his backstory lock stock and barrel.

But it's backstory that only works in his own Universe.

If everything that happened in Alan Moore's Run of Miracle Man happened on a Sunday maybe the rest of the world didn't notice?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

After 20 years of collecting comics and only finding 4 issues of Miracle Man, and there never ever being a chance of a collection because of the legal spaghetti... These were the first comics I downloaded.

    So, yes I've read them.

What I should have said was that no one in America would have noticed.

Did you miss the part about the entire planet being under the control of Miracle Man and Co.?

I bought them off the rack ( okay, my shop actually pulled them for me, so they were never on a rack)

And I still don't think that would phase the majority of US culture in the 80s.

Possibly by the millennium, your average cousin shtupping hillbilly is going to wonder why no one's tried to sign them up for voter registration in a coon's age... But the rest were either working a 60 hour week or/and addicted to Wheel of Fortune reruns.

Besides any one that saw some international news would just assume that they bought some rather good cocain this week.

    It was the 80s.

Dr. Doom would not allow Miracleman to take over HIS world without a fight.
