My enthusiasm for collecting has dropped a lot over the last few years. The new series figures being in 3.5" means I'll never pick up any of those.

With the classics, which continue in the 5" scale... the three packs are rarely, if ever, appealing to me. With each one released there's only one figure, maybe two, that I'm intersted in and the third is a definite "no thanks" which means I wind up not buying the set at all since the ones I don't want are the ones no one else really wants either which means selling it off on eBay isn't really an option. The Claws of the Axos is a perfect example. I'd like the Brig, Jo is 50-50 and the Axon is a big "no".

And since they're keeping the classics in the 5" scale, with smaller production runs, largely for the collectors I really wish they'd ditch the bicep and thigh articulation points. And I've come to hate those elbow and knee pegs. Other lines can cover them up. I really wish CO would have.

Did Jo wear that many rings in Axos?

Yeah, I've never understood those. Human limbs don't split/turn like that, so why do the figures? It just detracts from the look of the figure, along with those large knee joints.

I think it looks pretty darn good, especially considering it's only 3.75 inches.

Even better is the new Daemons set just announced with the Brig, the Master and Bok.

I'll be picking that one up. Couldn't care less about the 3.75 scale.

Someone jokingly suggested that Bok should be able to be dismembered after experiencing those "five rounds, rapid."

Since it's classic series, will it be full size or the 3.75 size figures?

1/13th scale, or roughly 5.5 inches, same as all the other "classic era" figures so far released.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Yep. Classic figures will remain 5 inches. The new wave of Doctor Who figures (11th Doctor and Clara etc) are all 3.75 inches.

Alister Dewer hinted that even that may be "open ended", suggesting if Underground Toys and/or Forbidden Planet want to commission a 5.5 inch Matt Smith with the long purple coat or Clara in the same scale, it might be considered.

But the "regular" toys sold in the "high street" stores which depict characters during the Clara reign onwards will be in the newer 1/18th scale.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Actually a 3.75 inch Clara against a 5 inch doctor would be in perfect scale since Jenna's shorter than Matt.

I had some fun with my figures

those 'playsets' look an awful lot like 1 figure and a shitload of cardboard.

Pretty much. These new playsets are literally just a bunch of card stock with a plastic base.

I'm disappointed that the figures are literally scaled down versions of the old ones. I was hoping for new/improved articulation (ball joint head, elbows etc) but they still have all the same old swivel joints.

The base of the TARDIS looks way too big as well.

Those sets are probably OK for displays but I can't imagine they'd hold up to much actual playing.

Yeah, pretty much for display unless kids are really gentle with their toys these days.

And as a collector that display selected figures on a shelf, I'm strictly in the 5" scale. All I'm hoping is that UT/FP commission some exclusives for the new series in the 5" scale. From what I gather, they can if they want. And I'd like Clara, the 11th Doctor in his new outfit and the new Cybermen.

The figures do look like they're going backwards in terms of articulation.

What happened to the series 6 type of figure( like the one I have posted up above)?

Also the doctor figure doesn't look good as this prototype/Asylum of the Daleks doctor
