I considered that, but it didn't look that way to me. They really don't look very much alike. Indeed, when the characters moved, their body motions looked like 2D animation to me, even if digital coloring was used to give the proper glow and such. I think it's going to be the sort of hybrid animation that's common today, where the characters are 2D and the vehicles and often the backgrounds are 3D (as in Futurama, for example).

I took this from the wiki article for "Tron: Uprising" so take this from a grain of salt.

The animation style of Tron: Upising is 2D animation. The animation is some what similar to Speed Racer: The Next Generation's animation style. But, the animation could change in production.

^ Why are you posting it again? This is the exact trailer that I created the thread for? Sigh.

Looks cool. Although I don't get Disney XD, so I guess I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD.

I'm surprised they're doing this with normal animation in terms of the characters. I was more expecting them to go the ReBoot route. Speaking of which, while the Tron movie franchise came first, as a weekly TV series they're going to have to watch out for the comparisons to ReBoot (the more-adult later seasons, I mean).

A new trailer has been released, and the show is set to premiere in June.

I'm startled by how jerky and ugly the animation is for this show. I was curious about the show, but having now seen the animation style, I think I may find it unwatchable.

I really liked Tron: Legacy so I am looking forward this. I don't mind the art style, it is a little more abstract than a lot of the other shows out there, but I don't mind it. I don't get Disney HD though, so I'll have to wait for Netflix discs or streaming.

That's Disney XD. It's not high-definition or anything, it's just a couple of letters that they thought would sound cool.
