Fact: Enterprise DID run Seven seasons, just no one was left to watch after season 4.

Fact: Star Trek Nemesis was going to have a crazy romulan create a black hole inside vulcan and the whole planet was to be sucked into it. But it was tabled as "no one would watch that crap"

Fact: There was a proposal to have Wil Weaton shave his head into a receding hairline in "The First Duty" to hint on who his real dad was.

Fact: There was a proposal to get Kristy Alley back for Star Trek V, and that is where the fan dance comes in, however Alley asked for too much money, and it was left in....

Fact: The Original ending of Generations had Kirk holding off a shipful of badguys and pretending to lead a entire squad to let Picard save the day. It was cut for budget reasons and so they dropped a bridge on him.

The idea was later used in DS9 for the end of eddition.

Fact: Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer where booked to play vorta, but they realized that Sisko would kick there asses, and so they declined. We got Iggy Pop instead.

FACT: The new Enterprise had a Sombrero, but it was obscured by lens flares.

 

FACT: They had Neelix show up in the original script for TNG's The Price.

 

FACT: The "Bi-nars" was the original name of the species to be encountered in the TNG episode "Justice" who were to be even more sexually promiscuous and experimental. The studio censored the more explicit references and the name was changed to the "Edo", but staff writer Brannon Braga insisted on using the name "Bynars" as an in-joke during the second season.

 

FACT: While Dr. McCoy's surgical instruments were off-the-shelf salt shakers, the accompanying pepper shakers became communicators (note the large holes).

 

Fact: the Klingon costumes where leftovers from "The Planet of the Apes"

 

FACT: Jeffrey Hunter wanted to play Captain Pike with more energy, more upbeat, along the lines of what we see in Shatner's portrayal of Captain Kirk. But Gene didn't want that... he wanted a more serious, hardened captain, and so he pressured the director to have Jeffrey deliver the personification of Pike we've seen in The Cage. The criticism from NBC executives about the Cage addressed this very thing, causing Gene to change his mind for Shatner's portrayal of Kirk.

 

FACT: There is actually an 80th episode of TOS that never aired. It wasn't the last one filmed. It was a mid 3rd season episode. But it was horribly written and after a little more than half way through production, it was abandoned. Gene asked everyone involved to never speak of it.

 

FACT: Star Trek, The Motion Picture was supposed to be a movie format "episode" conclusion to the original series... the last adventure of the starship Enterprise under Kirk's command. It would be made with all production values conjured up from Star Trek Phase II, and the Enterprise would finish up at the end with it returning home to an Earth based star port. Kirk finishes up his commission as Captain, gets promoted to Admiral, and takes an administrative position at Starfleet. The idea would be that the next movie would be what we saw in ST:TMP, where Kirk is called away from his admiralty duties to be aboard the new Enterprise NCC-1701-A to investigate the tremendous threat to the galaxy. The idea had a lot of buy-in, but at the very last point before finalization, those in charge decided to abandon it and go straight on to what we saw in TMP.

 

Actually, I think they did use some of the boots from Planet of the Apes for the Klingons on occasion. Really!

Fact: Harlan Ellison sued the producers of St. Elsewhere for the "Tommy Westphall" ending to the show, claiming it was stolen from an un-produced TOS script. Due to cross-over characters from that show, he has gone on to sue most every TV show created as "derivative work".

FACT: TATV was originally written to take place during the events of The Icarus Factor, with Riker trying to decide how to deal with his father.

 

they where, I decided to throw in a few truthful facts to REALLY confuse people. It was the Klingon Pain-stick episode among others...

 

FACT: The recent Star Trek: TNG XXX Porn Parody was based on an unused script found underneath a drawer in one of Gene Roddenberry's old desks.

FACT: The TMP Klingon costumes were inspired by the rock band KISS.

FACT: Captain Kirk's originally scripted last words in Generations were, "Boom! Yummy!"

FACT: George Takei stole the line "Oh, my!" from William Shatner.

 

FACT: William Shatner and George Takei are in fact the best of friends and only pretend to be angry at each other as a joke. Shatner and Nimoy on the other hand...

 

Shatner was killed in an auto accident in 1968 and replaced with a look-a-like. If you play Turnabout Intruder backwards you can clearly hear Nimoy say "I buried Bill".

 

FACT: The design of the reimagined Enterprise in Star Trek XI was finalized on a napkin at a Hooters restaurant.
