Sadly, Serenity is also the name of a brand of adult diapers, making it doubly - and ironically - appropriate. :wtf:

Seems like the name should go to something better than node 3 of the ISS. It should go to a craft of some description for a start.

There are no greater group of whining babies than the Browncoats.

    Yeah, I said it!

    Feel better?

I don't know what the chip on your shoulder is, but get over it.

Ohh, right. One of the options is Serenity.

    Not because of Firefly.

But if it wins the Browncoats will claim it as their personal victory.

At least naming the shuttle "Enterprise" had a legitimate Trek connection. This is reaching.

Funny...'cause so far all of the whining in this thread - as well as the flaming, borderline trolling and general assholishness - has been from all you folks bashing the Browncoats...

    I voted "Serenity". :D

I am a Star Trek fan, a Firefly fan and a furry. I have enough dark energy connections to make your universe
collapse in on itself in a superheated amalgam of pocket protectors and Dilbert comic strips.

If it wins it'll definitely be because of Firefly-----have you seen how far ahead in the polls that is? Sort of thing only happens when a site gets /.'d, which would only happen due to the Firefly connection.

As to why it's on there in the first place, I'm sure it wasn't a concerted effort by Nasa to make a Firefly reference; but by the same token, it wouldn't surprise me if someone involved with the process slipped it in as a fan.

Firefly connection aside, the name "Serenity" works seamlessly with the names for the previous nodes of "Unity" and "Harmony" ===> No problem. :techman:

Just to make it clear, I was responding to stonester1's reference to the module as 'the crapper,' which, realistically, it is. I'm a bigtime Browncoat, myself - I was just referring to the irony of a crapper module named Serenity when the adult hygiene product also carried that name already, not referring to Browncoats. I kind of feel like blockaderunner's quote of my post misdirected my message.

No, thanks. I'd rather not have the name of the new ISS module associated with a brand of incontinence products.

I voted for "Serenity," of course, but Stephen Colbert mentioned this on his show tonight and urged viewers to go and write-in to name the module "Colbert."

    Bastard!

I saw that. Colbert fans are every bit as crazy as Whedon fans. There may be more Colbert fans, but I think Serenity's lead will hold out.

Did you notice that the font on the boxes of tea was the same font as 'Serenity' on the side of the ship? :techman:

Edit to add that Serenity has 86% of the vote, and Colbert is already at the top of the write in list. :)
