I try to not be the total fan boy but I've gone too long without new ST books. Anybody else in the boat and started counting down to Zero Sum Game?

I'm quite excited for the whole thing. I'm most interested to see what all the rest of the DS9 relaunch gang has been up to.

Also, according to Amazon.com, USA Today called Zero Sum Game "One of the best resources on proven ways to exercise the healing powers of the mind.*" So there's that too.

    *Kindle edition only

That perpetual thorn in my side, the Atlantic Ocean, stands between me and the book at the moment . But I've given my local Forbidden Planet a list of all upcoming Trek books for the next few months, and they're good at getting them in as soon as possible.

Yes, I've been eagerly counting down to Typhon Pact for some time. :)

I ordered it yesterday on the book depositary (see other thread) and I had an email saying it will be with me in the next few days this morning.

Do new books hit bookstores on a particular day (like DVD's) or do they tend to show up within a more loose timeframe?

Just trying to decide when to check my local Book World (which is as of a few months ago the ONLY bookstore in my city...)

It's not a specific set day, it's usually just around a specific day. For instance Zero Sum Game had a date of the 26th on the websites, but it came out yesterday.

^ Be advised that not all book stores stock new titles at the same time. Just because ZSG is on the shelf in a Borders in one town is no guarantee it will be in stock at another shop down the road.

Well, I hope it's there today, 'cause I know myself well enough to know that I'll stop by every single day until it arrives.:techman:

I suppose I will have to check some bookstores to see if it was stocked earlier than the 26th.

Chapters in Canada has a web-based inventory check on each store for the title you want. Handy so that I don't come home empty-handed.

Barnes and noble has that system here in the US. And you can also have them set aside a copy for you, which I did and I'm about a hundred pages into Zero Sum Game right now.

    Thank you, Internet!:bolian:

in fact at my borders, they had ZSG hidden behind the older books, so you couldn't see it. They happened to have one copy sticking out that i noticed out of the corner of my eye. Great book so far, david.

I just received email notification that my copy has just been unpacked at Galaxy Bookshop, Sydney. If the trains weren't out for trackwork on my line this weekend, I'd be holding the book in my hand tomorrow morning. Dammit.

Some poor (as in penniless) ST fan put them there so they could go home and rob their piggy bank... and when they return tomorrow, they'll all be gone!
