Cultural historians will note that there hasn't been a single television show about police officers since 1973. Thankfully, TNT is coming to the rescue, with a show about a small-town cop who's forced to partner with... her own father! (Dramatic Chipmunk.)

But wait, it gets stupider: the lead will be played by Eliza Dushku. Yeah, that one. The 5'5 one. For shit's sake, TNT! I've never been in a fight in my life, but I'm still almost certain I could take her. Even a flabby-ass criminal with no self-defense training whatsoever could doubtless own her.

I mean, what the f* next? A gritty urban cop show starring Paul Reubens? A show about badass US Marshals, starring Peter Dinklage?

God created Mankind, Sam Colt made them equal.

Besides, Hollywood has no interest in depicting fights realistically.

It's always been the way in these sort of shows, the only time I saw a semi-realistic take on this issue was in an episode of the Mentalist, where Lisbon is seen taking took some big guy, she does it by whipping out a taser and shocking him when he's unaware.

Watch it. Discrimination on the basis of size is no better than any other kind.

And if you think Peter Dinklage can't play a badass, you haven't been paying attention.

Hey, I'm short, but I recognize larger people tend to do better in fights.

That being said, if a police officer gets into a fight one on one, they're probably doing something wrong. Hell, they have a habit of pulling their tazer (or what they think is their tazer) out at the slightest sign of non-compliance.

Yeah, clearly size matters in a fight, but cops don't fight fair (not saying there's anything wrong with that), they have batons, tazers, guns and often also superior numbers and maybe even more importantly they have the justice system on their side. I don't think size matters that much for a cop. Maybe it can even be extra beneficial for cops to look less threatening superficially, especially women.

A cop show? What madness is this? Next thing you know they'll have shows featuring doctors and lawyers.

Sure it is. Does being gay affect a guy's ability to be a Marine, for instance? Of course not. Does being less than five feet high? You bet it does.

Sure, but does anyone really want to bet me this series won't be have Dushku owning normal-male-sized perps with her Hollywood kung-fu alone? :p

Isn't Peter Dinklage playing a badass in Game of Thrones?

In Blow, Paul Reubens played an... ex-marine. When he was promoting it on the talk show circuit, the audience laughed the moment he said ex-marine.

Not really. Tyrion is a badass in his own way, but definitely not physically.

Yeah, exactly. You never know what kind of people you'll end up encountering online. I'm short, and I have genes in my family for this kind of thing. I have an Aunt on my Father's side who could literally play a hobbit if she wanted to, so I understandably get defensive with this kind of thing.

TNT should have picked up L&O.

Eliza Dushku is one of the worst actresses in the history of the world! God help us because she can't act and she ain't that pretty!

Yet another of many MANY reasons why that movies should never happen.

Not until they bring us a sitcom starring a fat dumb oaf and his smart attractive wife.

I give CBS another 10 years. Then all the old people who watch it will be dead, and it will no longer have an audience large enough to sustain it.

"Two and a Half Men" has been the #1 comedy for years now, yet I have never met a single person who actually watches it.
