Very promising casting even though my exposure is next to minimal for the lot of those actors mentioned. Steps in the right direction seem to still be happening...on paper at least.
In the out of no where department...Jessica Biel appears (not confirmed yet) to have been offered the role of Viper (don't remember hearing anything about Viper being in the early McQuarrie drafts so this might be a newer role if true). http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=92525 I'm not the biggest fan of hers but I have liked her in some stuff, have to admit that she would be an interesting Viper. Obviously since Viper is a Hydra agent (currently Madame Hydra) this might have to be tweaked since Hydra is owned by Marvel Studios.
And here's a link regarding that development...little bit disappointed. http://collider.com/jessica-biel-the-wolverine/181737/
Twitch Film reports that Svetlana Khodchenkova is in talks to play Viper. The deal is expected to close quickly given how soon the film is scheduled to start filming.
Svetlana Khodchenkova is an interesting choice given she is a practical unknown to anyone outside indie films or European films I'd wager. Should we assign any weight to Viper's importance going from Biel to her? Seems "name" was preferred but now it's not.
She was Irina in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I think she might be a better fit for The Viper than Jessica Biel.
I know but that's the ONE movie I meant. And that movie wasn't a blockbuster that many saw. Look at her IMDB.
Having a bunch of names doesn't mean a movie will be any good. Just look at all those Garry Marshall ensemble "romantic comedies." Hell, just look at the last Wolverine movie. You only need to have "enough" big names to help sell a big movie. In this case, "Wolverine" is really the main selling point. Then Hugh Jackman.
Interesting choice. I am still curious to know how they will handle Viper and her character history since Marvel Studios owns Hydra. Perhaps they will do a bit of tinkering with the character.
^^^ Maybe this is some cross studio cooperation. There was talk of MS and Fox splitting some of the mutant Avengers like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver was there not? Maybe as long as they don't say Hydra by name they can keep most everything else about her in tact. Maybe?
That's very true. Viper has been a favorite villain of mine over the years, especially since she's become Madame Viper (her alliance with Osborn and AIM were fascinating) so I'm extremely curious to see how this turns out.
You do know I wasn't serious, right? The quotation marks were meant to represent some Hollywood exec seeing dollar bills after the success of The Avengers, not my own personal wishlist for this movie.
