Greatness! Thanks for the tips. The day I fly in, there's no game, so I'll have plenty of time to check this out.
We called it Cabbage Night in my part of NJ, or in my time. One CN when I was in college, a couple of us painted some of the fire hydrants on campus. We were trying to paint little people, but, in retrospect, they probably looked more like robots.
I went there about 10 years ago and it was awesome. Very wacky, eclectic sort of place. And they throw fish!
The Public Market is a lot of fun, you could easily spend a day there. For food I would recommend the upper level cheese shop (they make fresh curds on premises that are delicious), the Russian meat pie shop, and Cinnamon Works, the bakery with amazing molasses cookies -- there's also a guy who sells delicious spiced jams, like strawberry jalapeno. On the second level there is a great comic book and novelty shop that would probably interest you (at least, I hope it's still there!). If you want a good dinner, go down to the first level and cross the street to the piers. Ivar's is a great Seattle staple. Ivar's restaurant is on one of the piers (54 or 56 I think), and serves a great clam chowder (get the white, it's better than the New England) and good lobster, with an excellent view. The prices are good and it's nice but not too fancy. If you're not in the mood for a proper sit-down meal, they also have an Ivar's fish and chips stand next to the big restaurant. Have fun in my hometown!
New England clam chowder is white. Tomato based chowder is called Manhattan style. Or does Ivar's make 2 white chowders?
I will! I only have about a day and a half there, then I'm off to Phoenix, but I will check out all the tips that I have been offered here. I also can't wait to see Safeco Field. I heard it's very nice.
Ah, you are correct. I do know which is which, but I mistyped. I meant to recommend the white, not the Manhattan.
It's like this: everybody drinks milk at some time in their life -Clamato, however, is an acquired taste.
