As a child growing up in the 90s, Harry was actually my favorite character on Voyager. He was the youngest of the main cast and he was wildly optimistic, so I definitely related to him the most at the time. It was only after I got older and saw the series again did I begin to like other characters more. Did any of you have similar experiences?

Harry was always a very "meh" character I found--alrightish but nothing special. I liked what they tried to do, but I always thought that they never really made enough of the rookie aspect.

    I LOVE HARRY.

He is cute, earnest, not full of himself like Paris, loyal. I always liked Harry just fine.

    Seconded. ;)

Do I give him crap anyway? Oh, yes.

But, seriously... I know the feeling of not being promoted. Harry was living my life, man.

Yeah, I like Harry all right. He reminds me of myself when I was a teenager. Such a do-the-right-thing nice guy, but I wanted to be more like Tom Paris.

I would also like to say that I like him 10,000 times better than Paris.

He should have ended up with BOTH Delaney sisters.

Humans live into their second century sometimes (probably) so even though I was about the same age as Harry when the show started, working hard and paying for a roof above my head, the writers were probably moving in the right direction when it became evident that they thought that they were still producing scripts for Wesley.

    I despise him.

    Very plain and boring looking.

I don't remember anything about his personality, though.

    Wait, did he have one?

Harry... or Paris? Bit of a Harry Hill moment (which admittedly won't mean much to anyone outside UK)

    I'd agree with that assessment.

Where you around for my "Karry Him" thread?

His mother knew he was going to be such a loser that she used subliminal programming, a spoonerism, to dupe those around him into being his unwitting crutches and pick up his slack.

Kim remembers being born, so he must remember the look of disappointment on his mothers face.

I found him bland and inoffensive.

BUT he was an ensign for seven years for a very good reason: He was hopeless. More naive than... anyone. Ever. Watch "Nightengale" and compare his pitiful attempt at command to anyone else's. Third-year-cadet Kirk in STXI? Red Squad in "The Valiant"? Beverlump in "Descent"?

He just hasn't got what it takes. I hope the USS Rhode Island in the alternate/original future of "Endgame" was never given anything important to do. For the galaxy's sake.

Oh wait... it was! It was sent to stop Admiral Janeway from changing history! And... Harry failed again!!!

    Zing!

He actually did pretty well in "Future's End," though. IMO.

...well, except for when Voyager got spotted by some dude with a camera at a barbecue.

Well taking into account that the Admiral was just going back to create an alternate and parallel time-line which would have no effect on the present as they understood it and stood upon, well that'd just mean that the Rhode Island wasn't on an urgent mission to save the universe... It was busy work. To stop pollution being ejected on their neighbours.

    And Harry knew it.

Otherwise he was committing suicide when he let her go.

So really he must have been pissed off about being underutilized which is why he let her go despite orders, because her daft flight of fancy was really mostly harmless. Although, he wouldn't break orders if this was the forst time they'd given him a shit detail. obviously there would have to have been a clear pattern of the Admiralty having zero respect for the lad before he would flush his career down the toilet like that.

Not so. Picard firmly believed his timeline would be erased in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and not supplimented with a parallel one. Janeway and co would have thought the same thing come "Endgame"

'Tis only the writers of the new movie and us viewers (and maybe old Spock) who know otherwise. At least until the next set of writers change the rules again.

I always liked Harry. Such a normal, nice guy, unlike jerkish Paris. And cute looking, too :D

He was written to be too young starting out, he was acting like a 1st year cadet, not a fresh out of the academy....

as for what they did with him, no idea, have not gotten that far in Voyager.
