22nd November, 1963. Makes me feel old. Is the FBI gonna release any documentation next year? I thought there was a 50-year embargo on certain files.
I don't know about the FBI files, but it sure does make me feel old, too. I was thirteen and as obsessed with politics as most 13-year-olds are with pop culture.
You people are so OLD and so YOUNG. I now associate this assassination with the Seinfeld ep about the spit.
I wasn't around, but my sister was three months old. She and my mom had just arrived in West Germany to be with our dad. I can't imagine what Mom was feeling then- she'd never been so far away from home- she was in a totally new country with a brand new baby, and the day after she got there, the President was assassinated!
I was 2 years 2 months and 2 days old, My little Brother was 14 days old from Wikipedia So who knows they maybe released but "blacked out" like UFO reports?
3 days shy of my eleventh birthday (which I shared with JFK Jr, hard to believe he's gone too.). When something happens that makes your dad cry, you take notice.
Not so much that, just the fact I learn about JFK in school but that was ~25 years ago for me - so that makes me feel old! It's like Doctor Who (ironically the anniversary of which is the 23rd of November, 1963, the day after JFK). I remember the 25th anniversary in 1988 thinking it's done well to last 25 years. But now it's 24 years after that!
Well DW has the ultimate premise for a show, you can travel to any planet in the universe at any point in it's history. Though for some odd reason the Doctor seems to have developed an affinity for a small windswept Isle in the North Atlantic as have a number of Alien races. But back to the subject thread, it was well before my time and being on the otherside of the pond it doesn't gain huge amounts of attention.
If President Kennedy were assassinated today, most details being the same, I wonder how the reaction of the general public would be different. We're a bit more of a coarse society today, more used to violence. In a strange way, I would hope for the same shock, and the same sorrow. .
Sadly, I'm sure much of the country would be celebrating. As for the JFK assassination, it was six years before I was born, which gives me a very convenient alibi.
I was eight years old. I was in class when the principal came on the PA system and announced Kennedy had been shot.
