Unfortunately that probably is true. Even if the Uglyprise does bite the dust Into Darkness the replacement will most likely be the same, or too similar to discern a difference, design.
Love the poster. But...why does everything have to be 'falling to earth' all of a sudden? First Iron Man 3 and now this?
This is so totally not "OH LOOK AT THAT AWESOME IRON MAN III POSTER, WE GOTTA DO THE SAME THING!" Oh wait, it is.
If it were Kirk in his space suit falling, maybe. But it's a 725 meter long starship falling out of the sky. It's not a rip off of the Iron Man 3 poster
He doesn't. He just safely plays the odds. Like boldly predicting that the sun will rise the next day.
All of the promotional material so far has been derivative bollocks, from the wreckage logo (The Dark Knight Rises) to this Iron Man 3 one.
All I know is that, looking at this new poster, all I can hear in my head is, "My God, Bones, what have I done?"
I hadn't thought of this but a friend mentioned that the poster reminded him of some of the images seen on TV from the Columbia shuttle disaster. did this strike a chord with any americans on the forum given that 2013 is the 10th anniversary of the disaster?
(a) It looks nothing like the Columbia disaster. (b) It will strike a chord with no one, because that incident isn't engrained in the public conscious like the Challenger. And on the original point: yeah, this is a complete rip-off of the Iron Man poster. The once invincible, now-tragic hero(es) plummeting in flames, and symbolically falling from grace. Welcome to the generic 2010s movie genre.
Since Iron Man 3 and STID are both from Paramount they probably have the same people working on posters for both films so there's bound to be some similarities especially when both movies feature something or someone crashing.
I'm seeing "rip off" being thrown around haphazardly. ANY style of poster can be seen as "ripping off" something else if you're going to go that route. The only thing they have in common is something falling from the sky. That is IT. There is absolutely no use or rhyme or reason to look it further than that.
