I don't think the foreign kid at the helm inputed my order correctly for a Ipod Touch either.

    Window!

    Requiem for Methuselah.

When Flint shrinks the ship Kirk looks in and sees the bridge crew frozen.

Actually, I kind of see this as dumb luck that when Kirk leans down to look at the bridge module his eyes come parallel to the position of the still-running viewscreen. Unless Flint did something to the ship to allow the captain to peer inside.

We also see Kirk observing them which means it's two-way.

    Hence, window.

Or maybe a flat electronic display that can be adjusted for opacity or transparency to ACT like a window in some cases.

I, personally, believe it was always intended to be a viewscreen (and a one-way one, to boot) but this episode is certainly enough to shoot down a "canon violation" tag re: the new trailer.

    Peace!

I'm really gonna have to get used to this "new" bridge. Even if no canon or continuity is violated in the story and Abrams is right about this being NO reboot whatsoever, the way this bridge looks is just too 24th century(or BEYOND)and distracting. The 29th century Federation timeship Relativity on VOYAGER looked more primitive in a lot of ways than this Enterprise.

To be fair, the Relativity wasn't that great of a set anyways. It looked barely more advanced than Voyager. I would expect the 29th century to look a lot less... 24th century.

Yeah, maybe (just maybe) this new brigde looks more modern than any of the other bridges lies in the fact that the 24th century design-easthatics (TNG) were all based on the late 1970s designs for the late 23rd century (TMP).
That design was already old when they started to use it for VOY.
Hell, the designs for ENT looked more modern and functional (and I say this as someone who really likes the TMP-interior designs).

This "fascinating" window debate notwithstanding, I have managed to pin down another station location.

Communications is the first station AFT of the starboard turbolift. I got this from examining the BIG HD screencaps from another thread.

Additionally, the next station to the right of Comm (facing the outer bulkhead) is manned by a blueshirt. Another SCNC station?

Also, there appear to be more small stations on the fwd/stb part of the bridge INSIDE of the outer platform.

Did the red alert klaxon lights and sounds remain unchanged? I forget if any were shown or seen in the trailer.

Didn't see any flashing red lights, but I heard the klaxon...

There were red lights pulsing under the viewscreen in the snap-out-of-warp shot.

That can't be Kirk. The eye color is wrong.

Proving that I sometimes have TOO much time on my hands, I went back through the screencaps and plotted each station's officer by shirt color (that were visible).

Shit, couldn't Orci and Abrams have at LEAST gotten the science and communications stations right on a TOS-era Kirk Enterprise? The science station was directly behind Kirk only once...in ST:TMP. Then in the second movie it moved to his right rear similar to the original series and a standing console with no chair replaced where Spock was.

Look at the trailer screenies again. The science station is off to the side, the only thing right behind the captain is a weird wall of cool lights. That diagram is based off of the first publicity photo, but doesn't take into account the new trailer stuff.
