http://www.trektoday.com/content/2012/09/mulgrew-joins-netflix-series/#more-20294 As intriguing as this sounds... I'm not sure. Oh... not about her playing the matriarch in a prison kitchen. (I sense Teacake drooling as I type!) No... its about her playing it with a RUSSIAN accent! I fear more Kove thanJaneway will sneak into the role. Wonder when it will "premiere". Hmmm. Wonder if she'll be as anti romance on that show as she was on Voyager?
But.. don't we WANT more Kove? I'm quite sure her Russian accent will be a tweak of her New Jersey accent, but with nuclear wessels. DRAMA.. I can feel dramaticness seeping through that article.. btw I love her being in prison. The possibilities of this are, well.. very enticing. It's like the marriage of a dozen themes running through my head. I was just posting a while ago about a fanfic of Admiral Janeway being in prison.. Wow. I just hope she can be a "mother figurehead" and still be a bitch.
To explain.. she puts on the Joisey accent in Mercy and ramps up it's flaboyently fuck you element. I can see her doing this in Russian chain smoking mafia mom kind of way. I guess I'm talking about that working class thing.
Kate Mulgrew with a Russian accent? I'm in. It'll be interesting to see what kind of charisma she brings to this role, undoubtedly there will be a great deal of it.
I just hope the role is written that way. Her role on Warehouse 13 is dead dull. But hey at least they didn't hook her up with Artie!!
I have yet to watch W13, but I want to watch it not just for KM (though that was one of the main things that piqued my interest) but also for the cool concept of these powerful artifacts. But a Russian prison cook? Hell, she could give Janeway a run for her money with that! Now there's a death glare that I don't want to be in the range of.
Yeah just the words.. "Russian prison cook" and "Kate Mulgrew" sets my heart a'beating. Warehouse 13 is fun, nice chemistry between the characters, plenty of Trek actors (we had Data, Robau and Janeway in one ep recently), pretty adorable and I'm often laughing out loud at the jokes.
See, for me all it takes is the mentioning of the name "Kate Mulgrew" and you will have my full attention. The Russian accent is just a bonus (because really, she does do fabulous accents). Sounds like it will be very enjoyable...whenever I get around to watching it.
It's the prison setting and the potential for some retro butch femme dramas. I hope she's chain smoking through the whole thing. Who wants to hear this exchange.. Prisoner 127-B: What's this slop you're giving us for dinner? KM: <husky from chainsmoking> Borscht..
For some reason I was reminded of an episode of House MD where the good doctor was reading a book called 'Lesbian Prison Stories'... And teacake, I definitely want to hear that exchange. Sounds... intriguing.
haha.. that House story reminds me of my favorite scene in Lost. They have yet to move off the beach and a couple of the hard working types approach Sawyer to try and get him to help them. He is sitting under a shade cloth of towels reading "Are you there God? It's me, Margaret". Lost peaked for me with that scene. I still crack up every time I think of it.
Oh dear! Now they have time-traveled again and Janeway has been captured by authorities who think she is a Russian spy. Didn't she say something in "Futures End" about avoiding time-travel? And where is Chakotay and the rest of the crew when you need them?
ALL great love stories require insurmountable odds to be overcome... by placing HIM in Siberia and HER in the prison, you've just committed to the OBVIOUS J/C intent of the TV series! I bet Seven is the Warden!
I thought you would. I'm still waiting for Warehouse 13 to have an ep where Mama Jane meets up with Pete's ex-wife.
