I have another question. Does the script explain more of his back story especially why Riddick is considered a criminal and where he received his combat training. I know the game had some back story but I'm not sure if it was cannon or not.
I don't recall it going into that. It's been a few months since I read it last. After the start of the movie which follows the end of the last movie it's a pretty self contained story much like "Pitch Black" was. Casting has started and character details. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=20443
^ No. That could change but I'm pretty sure Towry said she's not returning. I remember after The Chronicles of Riddick premièred that there was brief talk of a spin off series starring her but that didn't go anywhere.
That's a good way of putting it. For whatever reason, Diesel seems like he fits in, regardless of how freakish the sci-fi scenario might be, but without needing to be freakish himself, so that he also fits into movies based in the real world. The Rock doesn't have that quality. The only other actor I can think of like that is Robert Downey, Jr.
Lord Marshal...in the draft of the script I read Riddick Spoiler: Potential Start of the Film is dropped off on the planet and betrayed by a rival that is not Vakko in an attempted coup As I stated the start of the film if they are using the Dead Man Stalking script and haven't revised much takes place about six months after the events of "The Chronicles of Riddick" and we find out what Riddick has been doing during that time.
If they end up doing a third xXx, I hope they work hard on the script. I read the third draft dated 2009 IIRC, and it needed a lot of work.
Apparently the film will be Rated R/18 A which is what Towry and Diesel have been pushing for in the start. There's also been a couple more concept art pieces posted which I'll try and find and post. They're pretty cool.
Vin said he's pushing for a 2012 release date, I can assume since the article I read at LatinoReview mentions the film still in pre-production that Winter '12 is the best bet. Even then they'd need to start filming in the next month or so I'd think.
Well they should have a couple of weeks filming under their belt by now. I don't know how long principal filming takes but I'm sure they can't afford a long shoot on the tight budget they have.
They've been doing location searching since at least Spring time. They will have to start pretty soon but if they are wanting a 2012 release date I can see this out in Nov or Dec 2012. It's not impossible.
