Tribbles are the fruit of the sea... Of space. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's Tribble-kabobs, Tribble creole, Tribble gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple Tribble, lemon Tribble, coconut Tribble, pepper Tribble, Tribble soup, Tribble stew, Tribble salad, Tribble and potatoes, Tribble burger, Tribble sandwich. That- that's about it

They're also good for making costumes for cabaret girls and strippers.

If you look closely, those are actually little jewels in their navels. Remember, couldn't show them on '60's TV.

Actually they appear to be color-coordinated buttons.

The navel ban was lifted shortly thereafter. Seasons 2 and 3 had plenty of notable navels.

If I remember correctly, Uhura's mirror uniform and how she wore it were in part responsible for the lifting of the ban.
