Yeah, I'm not really seeing anything at all Borg-like in this either. This kind of Brain to brain communication doesn't imply the eventuality result formation of some kind of a hive-mind, nor a loss of individuality.

That's what the pre-Borg scientists said, too. ;)

Hive-mind? No but I can see an interesting military use and it reminds me of the Universal Soldier movies

Just look out when the government starts offering to deliver babies for free. Chips in everyone's head's at birth!

Anything that has "Cyberdyne" in its name should be nuked from orbit. For science.

I don't expect the US gov't to be handing that kind of stuff out for free.

    This is really freaky.

Just as the body has the miraculous power of being able to heal itself (doctors pretty much just "assist" the body to doing its job, the job that doctors cannot do), so does the brain have the uncanny ability to construct a neural network of visual information that allows us to instantly identify objects. Abilities that still mystify even the most brilliant of scientists.

So now let's just hook up two brains together and see what happens. Yikes!

Don't get me wrong--this is fascinating. But I have to wonder what would happen if they did this with humans and... the psychological repercussions.

Did they have the rats 1000s of miles away just to be dramatic? Those wacky scientists...

I'd imagine that if this is every commercially available decades down the line, the social networking-addicted kids would lap it up.
